it really sucks to live in a world where everything could just be better and we can't have that because the elite can't stand the idea of people they deem as lesser living happy, fulfilled lives.

The no-public-outlets thing is making me so insane.

What about kids with cellphones.
What about powerchair users.
What about travellers.

How in the fuck can you deny public outlet use.

How the fuck is a kei truck rental free with proof of purchase but not electricity.

I'm always amazed how this country finds new ways to show its third-world ass. Did you know refilling a water bottle or plugging in a cellphone charger at a public park constitutes /theft/? Idiots.

I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

Adding dark chocolate to tomato-based sauces helps to balance the acidity and rounds out the flavours. A little brown sugar also does this, but the chocolate brings an additional depth which complements the savouriness, and for something like chilli con (or sin) carne, also balances the spiciness.

Didn't have time to make a bed for the cranberries I found for sale with the Christmas foliage plants. Eventually I want to put them in the marshy spot around the spring. Divided and repotted with more soil and space so they can wait for next year.

As someone who works in an agroecological role, DO NOT DO THIS. They may sprout wikiseedlings wherever you throw them and then wildlife and hikers will be caught by the donation solicitation screens when it flowers. These are considered invasive in many ecoregions!
I'm more into data de-centering (downloading parts of wikipedia onto flash drives and then scattering them in the wilderness)

A bounteous harvest! There's still a couple dozen at the very crown of the tree but I need someone to spot me on the ladder.
I don't think they're gonna be as good as last year's, when they're really sugary and delicious they get black freckles, but still, free food.

Neighbors last year: There's too many persimmons on the shrine tree.

Me: Ok, I'll thin the fruit next summer so we have fewer, bigger persimmons.

Neighbors this year: Aren't there not enough persimmons this year?!

Rode from Gokayama to Takaoka today to bring my mitre saw to be repaired by Makita. It cost a whole 180 yen, the cost of a new bolt for the blade cover, they didn't even charge for the service TAT
Downside I got caught in a hailstorm on the way there and my boot filled up with ice which then melted.

Looking at hooded chairs reminded me of my favorite piece of modern art: it was in a gallery window in NYC circa 2012?, one such chair of antique make reupholstered in blue-on-white pastoral toile but the human figures in the print were anime nudes. I have neither name nor pictures.

If you’re wondering what a “least weasel” is, they absolutely live up to the name. This is the least amount of animal you can have that can still meet the bar for “is weasel”
