2025 was the third hottest year on modern record. What's fun is that 2025 wasn't fueled by El Nino like #1 and #2 years on that list.

"This isn't weather, it's our planet screaming. Time to listen." 👏
Did you know?
2025 was the third hottest year on record, and the last 11 years are the warmest ever. Oceans absorbed 90% of the extra heat, fueling stronger storms, heavier floods & marine die-offs.
This isn't "weather", it's our planet screaming. Time to listen.

Hey Martin Kettle of @theguardian.com , guess when the last time the earth was this warm. Too many digits for you to comprehend.

Hey Martin Kettle guess when the last time we had tech like we do now. Oh right, never. But do go on how we've been here before. 🙄

It perplexes me that stories like this from all over the planet aren't the number one headlines. I'll keep saying until the day I die: there are no human rights of any kind on an unlivable Earth.

I hate how much I hate him and his henchpeople. Our children will not have a livable Earth. There are no political divides to bridge in a future without water and food. I'm done begging politely. F**k these people.

Jaw-dropping visual.
Humans have emitted 2750 gigatons of CO2 since the industrial revolution from burning fossil fuels and land use change. To put this in perspective, this is more than the (dry) mass of all living things on earth and everything humans have ever built combined:

Granted, I haven't been alive during the entirety of 1895-2025...but as someone who lives in one of those red splotches, I can confirm that things are different from my childhood in the 80s.
🔥🔥🔥 December 2025 temperature ranking (since 1895). A lot of the West had their warmest December on record and nearly everywhere out west had a top 5 warmest December. 🫠

This data is incomprehensible to many people, despite excellent SciComm. It'll take their houses floating/burning away before an ember of understanding sparks. But even then, that ember is tamped down by the regimes in charge. We need global effort from the powerful & wealthy to bail out this ship.
Mind blowing that millions & millions of people have been born, lived their entire lives, & died without ever realising that the man-made system they mistakenly believe is the real world is actually the very thing destroying it.

Our kids aren’t gonna have that luxury.

I fear that the collective global effort required to fix this impending catastrophe will never be reached: hoarding wealth and power take precedent.

A new ‘hypertropical’ climate is emerging in the Amazon - Berkeley News

***But in 2023 and 2024, a planet-warming El Niño weather pattern helped fuel record temperatures, according to the data. There was no El Niño event to drive temperatures this year.***"

A recent study found that plastic pollution and climate change go hand in hand. Rising temperatures break plastics up faster and climate disasters help spread microplastics and the chemicals they contain widely—leading to more harm for our health and the environment.
