In a tiny Texas cemetery I found a headstone shared by two women, both marked simply ‘Mother.’ These women lived to an old age and died a few years apart in the 1940s. They weren’t related, and no relatives of either are buried nearby; not descendants, and not the husbands who far predeceased them.
