While Lord says QoF “is a trans book,” it’s also a “compelling fantasy first and foremost" she hopes will appeal to a wide audience. “I’m especially hoping it clicks with queer edgelord teenagers.”

I powered through this book in like two days, it is extremely informative and accessibly written, I highly recommend it for understanding the day to day struggles trans women face and potential solutions we can build towards
One of the advance reviewers: "Douglas opens this study in potentially the most radical way possible: letting trans women tell their own stories. This study is unique in that it denies the authority of an impartial observer and opts for the opposite, ..." 1/2

My thanks to @penamerica.bsky.social for the thoughtful conversation about #wishtree, which was recently removed from school reading programs in Wisconsin and Virginia.

The good news? When I visit a classroom, I come away reassured. The future’s in good hands. ❤️

This is a book about how trans people just wanna live and be happy. It's so exhausting (and scary) trying to defend ourselves constantly. I wanted the political/social stuff to be a surprise, but maybe I ought to just be leaning into it. Because a LOT of real shit went into Our Sarnath.

Took me a while to get to it but, Isaac Fellman's Notes From A Regicide is going to be on my list of the best novels of 2025.

Hugely emotionally resonant but also intellectually playful; what strikes me most is how it uses its SFnal elements for exactly the opposite effect most lit SF does.
