At some point people need to learn that the poverty rate is mostly about the safety net or lack thereof and not the economy. The economy was doing historically well, real wages rising for the first time in decades, etc. And poverty rose because pandemic safety policies expired.

and if you really liked a book but don't like writing reviews online (I know a lot of people just don't) the very best thing you can do is be appropriately loud and unhinged about the book to your friends who also like books. we appreciate this invisible labour greatly
If you like an author's writing, a free and easy way to support them is to leave book reviews. Unless you're a megastar who gets a real marketing budget, your book lives and dies on word of mouth and reviews are a huge part of that.
