They are likely to lose a dramatic number of sales and whine about any other reason than their own stupidity to explain it. People don’t want trade paperbacks on the beach or when traveling. Ebooks are equally inconvenient in many circumstances. This is a dumb decision for profit that will backfire.
The mass market paperback, light in the hand and on the wallet, once filled airport bookstores and supermarket media aisles. You may never buy a new one again.

It was my honor to have @asiahmae.bsky.social, Poet Laureate of #Charleston, read PSYCHOPOMP & CIRCUMSTANCE.

To know she was drawn in by Phee's journey through grief to independence and had such wonderful words to say about my work was a joy I will hold onto for a long time.

Happy book birthday to @justinkey.bsky.social , whose first novel comes out today! The Hospital at the End of the World is thrilling, but it's also a thoughtful character-based meditation on AI and medicine and the human costs. And also makes it clear that I could never have handled med school.
I should be sleeping but I HAVE A NOVEL OUT TODAY!!!

Ignore this pre-order campaign ad!

Or maybe don't, because actually I AM SO EXCITED my book is one of Indigo's most anticipated sci-fi books!!!

For those of you not in Canada, this is basically Canadian Barnes & Noble, and it's giving you 25% off if you pre-order next week.

Libraries need to be more vocal about the digital pricing problem. I only buy for Sora (the school version of Libby) when specifically requested by a patron. I talk a lot about why I don't buy on the regular and patrons are always shocked at the price difference. I have to pay $75 not $1.99!
Your Libby rental was free for you, but did you know it cost the D.C. Public Library $59.99?

The e-book boom (and a complicated pricing model from publishers) has left library systems strapped for cash. But D.C. lawmakers have a plan to fight back. 51st.news/ebooks-are-e...
