This is true, though in this scenario, we stop that number from growing. We have to prevent them from doing what torturers have done for decades: take their festering sickness with them to police, prison, and “private security” jobs where their victims are even less visible.
Even under a best case scenario — Dems take the WH in 2028, ICE and BP are abolished or rebuilt from scratch — we’re still going to have thousands of angry, unemployed, well-armed, MAGA loyalist former immigration cops who have been told for 3-4 years that they’re above the law.

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

It was “baby’s first tear gas” for so many of us, including some literal babies. This crowd looked exactly like the No Kings march, so as you can expect, we saw the gas approaching and thought it was just smoke from the flash bangs until it started burning.
Today I saw ICE gas little white kids in the streets of Portland with chemical weapons. Imagine what they're doing to brown and black kids in the detention camps

it kills me knowing what’s needed is for people to double down on bucking any demands for “civility” because they understand these demands are training people to surveil & snitch on their neighbors and an exploit to intensify authoritarian control over our thoughts.

This is how I found out about the ruling. No scientifically illiterate court could ever make me deny that trans women are my sisters or that trans and non-binary identities are just as valid as my own. I’m with you always, and I’m so sorry this is yet another thing the world has thrown at you.
if you are a cis person it costs you nothing to just say today that you see & hear your trans sisters & brothers & others over in the UK today -- and around the world, too, knowing that rulings like today's ripple out in ugly ways.

Everything @dadrummond.bsky.social makes is so wondrous. I especially treasure the occasional glimpses of his process, which help me remember that his cast metal trilobites don’t just gleam into existence without hours of patient work.
