to me, Doing is a knife that must be continually honed, however small the grind wheel available to you is, because to me it's not about how sharp the knife actually is it's about the process of honing itself. if you are Doing then you are living. there are always opportunities to Do if you seek them

Red lightning. Photographers managed to capture rare ‘red sprites’ in the sky above New Zealand in October. The phenomenon is caused by bursts of electrical energy in the atmosphere that shoot upwards, creating unusual, jagged shapes

1/ Last week I attended to a conference entilted "Interactions between human societies and marine invertebrates" (I love how niche and obscure these meetings are), and I learned about the Neolithic desert kites, these huge traps in Middle East.

The link with marine inverts ? A quick thread ! 🦑🏺

just realised that 2/3s of my holiday cards this year are cymraeg-only & the other 1/3 bilingual lol. i genuinely don't pay attention to which language is on them i'm just looking at the pretty picture so i'm gonna be sending welsh/bilingual cards to all my english friends as well as the welsh ones.

Reading books (very proud I've started reading again) has got me realising I love to see a girlboss winning... but I also love to see a girlboss losing. If she only does one of the above, I lose interest.

(I've been trying to pinpoint why I don't like a book I should and I think it's this.)

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

🌊 🌈 Simon Jimenez's multi-award winning novel, THE SPEAR CUTS THROUGH WATER, is a sweeping adventure story, an intimate exploration of identity, legacy, and belonging and a love story to its blade-dented bone.

I love the Buffy-crowned Wood-Partridges in the highlands of Costa Rica. They're silly little birds that travel around in flocks. These used to be very difficult to find because of hunting, but they're getting much easier with protections in certain areas.

I love logging in to bluesky for my daily dose of breaking news: here's another organisation that's decided your community doesn't get to show their faces out of doors based on a tiny cult of obsessive weirdos who think too much about random strangers' (including children's!) genitals
