They GOP has fallen back on lying for the entire last 35 years. Maybe longer than that, but that's when I started paying close attention.
They'd be lost if they had to tell the truth, because if people knew the truth they'd lose most of their voters.

We could have a real and serious policy debate on the ACA subsidies. Whether they should be capped at a fairly high income level is one good faith debate. But Republicans don’t want that. Instead they have decided, as usual, that lying is the best plan.
