I have the biggest pit in my stomach. This bill is horrifying and its impact will be even more horrifying.

Hold on to your values, your joy, and the people in your community who need you to stand up
With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined.
🚨🚨 NEW: House passes sprawling domestic policy bill, sending it to Trump's desk

Final House vote is 218-214, with TWO Rs voting no (Massie & Fitzpatrick).

Senate passed it 51-50.

"Pay no attention to how all of this is being done to give tax breaks to the wealthiest people in the country. Society is about sacrifice, and sometimes we have to give up things like rural hospitals or food assistance for the poor so that billionaires can get more boats."
Pay No Attention to the Big Beautiful Bill Behind the Curtain
Sure, our health care, environment, and economy all hang in the balance of some two hundred mostly unpopular, mostly white men. And yeah, by Friday...

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut science research and education the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

This is not how any professional leader should communicate
NEW — I’ve obtained audio of new acting FEMA head David Richardson threatening staff in an all hands meeting this morning.

As first reported by Reuters, he told those who resisted change in the agency, “Don’t get in my way…I will run right over you.”

These people are just trying to feed us and feed their families.

Even immigrants with legal status are rightly terrified of ICE raids... this administration has made it clear that no one is safe.

Forgive the earnest post here, but one year ago this week, Global Tetrahedron took over The Onion. We've since brought back the paper and ONN, dramatically increased revenue, and hired more writers and artists.

But most importantly, as other places debased themselves, we refused to bend the knee.

Sounds like confirmation the federal government is doing nothing to “facilitate” Abredo Garcia‘s release.

This is presidential defiance of a unanimous Supreme Court order.
Van Hollen says that he asked the VP of El Salvador why his government continues to hold Abrego Garcia even though he’s not charged with any crime and there’s no evidence that he’s MS-13.

“His answer was that the Trump administration is paying the government of El Salvador to keep him at CECOT”

3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie).

Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development
CDC denies help for lead poisoning in Milwaukee schools due to layoffs
The CDC rejected a request for help "due to the complete loss" of their lead poisoning experts.

I think I am writing about this next!

A few notes...

WNBA players only get about 10% of the revenue.

The NBA decides that percentage and also -- to some extent - the revenue amounts (they negotiate the broadcasting deals).

And strikes don't impact demand!
I absolutely ❤️ this!
“We're asking for a bigger cut of that [revenue], like more equitable to what the men's revenue share is. It wouldn't get us anywhere close to their salaries, we're not asking for the same salaries, we're asking for the same cut of the pie of what is made in our league." #WNBA

The players will opt out of the current CBA at the end of the 2025 season

SCOOP: Now that Linda McMahon is confirmed/sworn in as secretary, Trump will be imminently issuing an executive order eliminating the Department of Education.

I’ve obtained a draft of an email that McMahon will be sending to staff re: the EO and the department’s “final mission”.
