What this means is gaining an understanding that “reality” is different for everyone. No one experiences the same event in the same way. We can never truly walk in another shoes. But we can listen and expand our own perspective to see their reality.

My muji order came this morning!!! The muji store was my favourite part of living in Vancouver, but also they make pens and pencils that are so much easier and nicer to write with when my joints are bad.

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

I’ve always found these studies interesting because I’ve played Tetris for a pretty long time, and I can definitely notice a positive difference in PTSD symptoms during periods of playing more regularly.
In the Emily Holmes' original "tetris can help reduce PTSD" study, what was found was that tetris is an activity which busies the part of working memory called the visuospatial sketchpad: imagining the rotation of shapes.

Tetris used to prevent post-traumatic stress symptoms
A single dose psychological intervention, which includes using the computer game Tetris, can prevent the unpleasant, intrusive memories that develop in some people after suffering a traumatic event.

I bought airpods a few months ago and I am still not used to the spatial audio, watching lecture captures and having it actually seem like I’m in the lecture theatre.

I’ve pretty much completely given up my doom scrolling bad habit and replaced it with reading graphic novels.

there is a lot of intentional minimization of the pandemic but i am really more interested in the unintentional sort.

like, how does unmarked grief and suppressed fear sort of get digested and forgotten?

how does the memory of lockdown for most people end up leaving those things out?

Disabled people are not expendable.

The elderly are not expendable.

Children are not expendable.

Worth should never be tied to economic productivity.

If we protected the most vulnerable in society, everyone would be better off.

Ok, it's the 3rd of January, lots of time for 2026 to shape up into something better than last year. Let's get some coffee and peruse the news.

Oh no.

2025 has been another whirlwind of a year. So much good, so much bad. My only resolution for 2026 is to keep holding space for all of it.

There can be no social justice without disability justice.

Yet too many people, even so called “progressives” are more than willing to leave disabled people behind.

That’s why it’s so important that we take up space.

That we don’t hide our suffering.

Remember, masks aren’t just for Covid!

They also help protect against colds, flu, measles, RSV and more.

They guard against pollution, wild fire smoke and pollen.

A well fitted respirator can keep you healthy while also protecting those around you.

It’s radical community care.

I'm worried to see how much worse things get after the holidays. Too many people would rather risk infecting their family and the public than have to cancel plans because someone is sick. It's absolutely mind boggling and disappointing. So many people learned nothing from living through a pandemic 😔

I had to leave Jigger home for a couple of days while I visit my parents (he has a wonderful babysitter visiting him) and I have a livestream set up so I can check on him. What has he been up to this evening? Just sitting on the dining room table he isn’t allowed on top of, like a defiant child. 🤣
