If I could tell you how many women journalists I've known over the years who work so hard despite repeated sexual harassment and discrimination and then to live in a time when the president is openly calling a reporter piggy and that woman probably got paid a lot for that stupid book. I can't.

Don’t waste editors’ precious bandwidth with this crap. Good grief.
Pitch in my inbox this morning: "I’d like to pitch a deeply reported story on how local criminal justice policies and practices in [City/County] affect residents’ daily lives."

We get at least 3-5 AI-generated pitches like this a day at this point, quite exhausting.

I will no doubt read and enjoy all your very good Nuzzi jokes, but I also want to say earnestly, so many of us (myself included) are on the verge of being pushed out of this industry and it's genuinely so dispiriting to see the worst among us, ethics-wise, get such preferential treatment.

This is one of the weirder bits of fundamentalist rhetoric. There's an school of thought in several churches including some old Catholic ones that women are supposed to suffer because of Eve. I am not telling you it makes sense. I am telling you he's parroting a line that is a giant warning sign
JD Vance is working for Big Menstrual Cramps and maybe that's not even a joke

This is the correct explanation of what happened tonight👇
KBJ threaded the needle thanks to CA1’s unfinished business.

-if she denied the admin stay, the full SCOTUS woulda stepped in to override her.
-if she immediately referred the case to the full Court, they coulda dragged feet.
-instead she boxed them in to act quickly once she does refer the case.

Teen Vogue took young people seriously. It's impossible to overstate how important, how rare, and how profoundly needed that is.

Teen Vogue was one of the only outlets that took young people seriously as political actors and covered how they're organizing, voting, and being impacted by state + national legislation.

It was a launching pad for so many great young journalists

This is absolutely fucked. We need publications like Teen Vogue now more than ever, and editors like @leximcmenamin.com who care about shepherding good, smart, challenging work.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

We should be teaching journalism hand-in-hand with history, too.
Journalism that fails to infuse a historically informed lens is akin to covering the smoke but never asking who lit the fire. History-centered journalism should be the framework within every newsroom.

Court-watchers confirm this cruel ICE agent has been reinstated.

Last week, in the briefest moment of decency, violently throwing a woman to the floor was “beneath the men and women of ICE.”

This week, it’s back to business as usual. The cruelty, after all, is the point.
I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)
