Into #football specifically data and trends within the beautiful game ⚽️
Aston Villa lost a potent striker in Jan then went ahead and brought in 3 new forwards to compete in the CL and PL.

Arsenal had Saka injured, Jesus ACL happened and Havertz blew his hamstring and we sat there and didn’t do anything.

That for me was the biggest failure.

Best football I’ve witnessed in a decade that tie. Well played Barca x Inter

@arseblog.com Hey mate. I live in Valencia. Any idea you would know where to go watch the game tomorrow with the fan group ?

Could post this any season for the last 20 years and just change the scorer.
After dominating the half, Arsenal go behind.

A brilliant free-kick from Bruno Fernandes.

The usual Arsenal. 1 SOT 1 goal conceded

Arteta is so wedded to a system even without a CF and with one academy player on the bench who’s the natural Striker can’t even get 5 mins in this game.

I’ve mentally given up with the “project”. I feel let down by the club.

My question is - We saw our #9 go down mid Jan with an ACL. To then gamble on playing Havertz for 5 months is insanity to me. In isolation, is this no an INSANE decision?

We saw our 9 get an ACL in the middle of January and said let’s push our luck and gamble on Havertz for the rest of the season.

And then we turn up to Leicester and West Ham with Mikel Merino as our primary attacking threat.

Think of that decision just alone. It’s fucking insane.

I FUCKING TOLD YOU AND EVERYONE WAS SO SMUG
Oh I thought moving and signing were two different things. Did we sign him? Or have we ended up with 1 striker with an ACL and 1 we’re running 90mins per game every game.

Arenal are not an elite institution.

When it truly matters they’re not serious.
February 5, 2025 at 9:28 PM
But remember we can find players that fit the club lol
February 5, 2025 at 8:48 PM
But apparently we don’t need anything
Arsenal end the window with a weaker attack than when it opened. There are numerous understandable reasons for their inability to sign a forward, but it’s a long way from being ideal. Huge pressure on Kai Havertz to keep scoring — and to stay fit. #AFC

Arsenal are weaker now than at start of January – this is why they did not sign a striker
Mikel Arteta does not wish to limit his scope in the summer and so Kai Havertz is left to lead the line alone as the title race heats up

I still think we are an excellent side. If we get fit, I think we can challenge for the CL. But we are going to be running the same players into the ground again, with no option to power up in games, or rotate and maintain our level. It’s a big risk

Whatever your take on the last 2 windows, I think the club is really playing with fire. Everyone knew we needed attackers. Mikel has spoken about it. Arsenal briefed the media about it after the Bayern tie. Failing to find the player(s) in consecutive windows is hard to explain

City have spent £200m in Jan. I thought it was a difficult market?

Unsurprisingly, the independent commission have overturned Myles Lewis-Skelly’s red card. He will not serve any suspension.

Total embarrassment for PGMOL, who should have just owned the obvious mistake and taken responsibility, but of course they didn’t….

What has happened to Valencia @philcosta.bsky.social would be cool to get a journo on your next pod. I’m moving there in 3 weeks - can I takeover ?

Looking forward to waves of (more) gaslighting about that red card now, because nobody can take their fucking blinkers off and realise that referees and PGMOL are ruining the game for everybody.

We're not even ready for what the next 48 hours will hold.

I genuinely don't care what happens in the match from here, what can the Arsenal players do when that's what you're up against?

Please tell me in what world, a trip - 85 YARDS FROM GOAL - is considered a red card. That's the most textbook yellow card you will see.

Where is the precedent for a decision like that? There isn't any because Arsenal are always the precedent.
Another red card given to Arsenal that you won't see again this season. It happens all too often.

Arsenal keep the policy of losing one player every game.
