As the Bluesky continues to grow, I feel like I need to re-establish my disclaimers from the Old Place: I primarily use social media to learn more about my faith. Lots of people who haven't met me IRL know me from my public sector job, which has a social media policy against putting my work #onhere.

Recurring topic in our house: who is weirder, Noel from GBBO or David from My Lottery Dream Home? (We love them both so much! No criticism in the question.)

Coast Guard: Uh, see, uh...D'you think there's any possibility that you could, uh, come about and go back there and, uh, and do any searching?

The exchange between the Coast Guard and the Arthur M. Anderson on the night the Edmund Fitzgerald went down is one of my Roman Empires — asking the Anderson to come about and search, and Captain Cooper saying yes.

We were supposed to go to Chicago for a kid-free weekend but cancelled just before the airspace news started to come out. Our Friday flight made it but just found out today's is cancelled. Close call.

The US withdrawal from WHO could impact the flu shot.

Flu samples sent to CDC from around the world are down 60% this year, as of July.

"When those viruses are not coming in, we don't know what to put in the vaccine, and you're going to have less effective vaccines."
Why next year's flu shot might not be as good as it should be
America's withdrawal from the World Health Organization is affecting the ability of U.S. scientists to track flu and other pathogens. That could be a blow to the development of the 2025 flu vaccine.

At least 20 kids under the age of 10 (mostly under 6) at church today. My kid was very helpful, engaged, and well behaved. Early 20s baptism. Immediately teared up for recessional "Ye watchers and ye holy ones." 10/10
