The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

This is the way.
Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

Great example of answering the real question, not the GOP-skewed (and tiresome) version.
Perfect response from @neguse.house.gov here. Watch this.
I love how Rep. Joe Neguse reframed this question.

Good visual comparing GOP and Dem federal spending.

(Spoiler: the Dem budget serves the people, whose government this is, while the GOP services only the wealthy.)
A visual representation of GOP and Democrat budgets.

Each cup = $50 billion, and each color represents something different. A way to see how the federal government is spending and who it benefits.

Now, which budget/policy benefits ALL Americans?

Great overview of where we are.

Spoiler alert: we are not a functioning democracy at this point. But we could be if Members of Congress would stand up to the tyrant and his handlers.
We aren't on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.

But I worry people don't see the whole scheme. They just pay attention to each new daily outrage. So I went to the Senate floor to explain Trump's plan.

Here's a 🧵of the speech. It's important.

This powerful JB Pritzker response to Trump's lawless threats is another reminder of what I tried to argue this morning: Pritzker understands Stephen Miller's theory of this moment, and he's responding accordingly:

Well worth reading the thread, which will have me thinking about it for days.
The conversation between Klein and Coates showed me that a lot of people who screech about “infighting” on the left aren’t aware of the fact that marginalized people have been forced to learn how to regulate their emotions during conflict, and so, are better able to hear what’s actually being said.

The bad news is what’s being destroyed.

The good news is that it creates an opening to build a stronger democracy, resulting in a government that serves all the people and improves our lives.

Time is on our side — and it will take time and effort.
NEW VIDEO: Donald Trump’s second term isn’t just about bad policies — it’s about permanently breaking America’s democratic institutions.

Today, @marcelias.bsky.social explains why we can’t simply “resist” Trump and wait things out, but must build a long-term pro-democracy opposition movement👇

Pritzer gets the mechanics of authoritarianism – systemic intimidation, seizing control of elections, etc. – in a way others in national democratic leadership don't or won't say out loud.
Pritzker: "One of the reasons Trump wants to send troops into cities is bc he wants to be able to take control of the 2026 elections...if they've got troops in cities, & it becomes a kind of norm for people, then it won't be abnormal for them when they're going to vote having troops at ballot boxes"

When doomscrolling, it’s easy for be to get hypercritical about everyone. I’ve been deeply disappointed in Dem leadership.

But House Dems (minus Maine’s Goldin, whom I think greatly misreads the moment) did well today on opposing the CR.

I’m calling my Rep. later to thank him.
Today feels like a very good day to talk about why I praise Democrats when they do the right thing.

Everyone wants to be praised. Someone commented on one of my posts, as a gotcha “what are they, dogs?”

Yesterday, Trump was threatening a reporter. Today, he coerced ABC to kick Kimmel off the air.

He's also suing NYT & WSJ for reporting the truth. And it's not just media: he's threatening private companies, colleges, Congress—everyone.

Enough. NONE OF US should cave. We ALL need to push back.

America's mythology is built on revolution and yet, somehow, people continue to dismiss democratic movements and uprisings around the globe as something *other people* do.

This could all end. We could put a stop to this nightmare. You just have to believe we can.

Exactly this x 1000.
Democratic leaders can't sell a shutdown because they have not been acting like Trump's actions are a massive wildfire that is 0% contained. They're not saying Trump must be stopped at all costs. Instead, they make overtures of compromise, which makes a shutdown simply a failure of negotiation.

J.B. Pritzker is 100% right.

Please listen to him, pay attention, and join us in speaking out against authoritarianism and to protect free and fair elections.
Pritzker on Trump sending troops into cities: "He has other aims other than fighting crime... he would like to stop the elections in 2026 or frankly take control of those elections. He'll just claim there's some problem with an election and then he's got troops on the ground that can take control."

I think it’s fair to say that Newsom is doing this both because he believes in it and because he senses it’s good politics, which means we convinced him it was good politics.

Well done, pro-democracy Americans!

Newsom may not be my top pick, but what he’s saying is urgent and essential to protect what we have left of democracy.
Kudos to him for taking action - and to brilliant coms chief, Camille Zapata.
@gavinnewsom.bsky.social: "Let's go. This is it. We need to wake up. We cannot survive if he rigs not just Texas, but he goes to Indiana, goes to Missouri, goes to Ohio, goes to Florida. We have to have other governors of like mind, and there are many, to now do something, not just say something."

The Gestapo violence is horrible--but it's noteworthy that almost every ICE attack that gets recorded includes bystanders at a minimum telling them they're evil, and sometimes being even more engaged. Proud that so many are standing up to the thugs.
While masked agents were violently attacking a delivery worker this morning, bystanders repeatedly asked to see their badge numbers but they refused.

Bystander: You guys are ruining this country, you know that, right?

Agent: Liberals already ruined it.
