I post boring bits of my life & anything I find interesting.
If you followed me from the old place because of hockey; don't bother. I stopped watching hockey a few years ago.
Pronouns: she /her
An excellent way to acquire one of Slavo's creations for a very reasonable price. I bought two when he offered these a few years ago - one for me and one for my Mom.
Lovely pieces
Here are the colours.

The Swifties (yes, me included) are melting down this morning ... the trailer is out. For anyone who says that her fan base is only young girls, you are so wrong. I am over 60, been attending live music since I was 12, been to SXSW multiple times, etc.
I'm a living example of her universal appeal.

Why do I feel as if women will be less surprised than men at how deep this goes? Most of us have been watching men cover up for one another (in professional & personal situations) for decades. Example, we've seen other women get fired because they refused/ to have sex. HR makes it a 'work' issue.
Just the tip of what one must imagine is a wide range of perverted shit

Growing my own food, kitchen table edition. The good thing about sprouts is that it's quick. The lentils should be ready by tomorrow and the broccoli by Friday. I started them Sunday
My sprouts like to look out the window, that's why they are facing that way (but no direct sun).

Every Canadian my age knew many people who fought in WW2. Our neighbours, the parents of friends, or people we never met. That's because everyone in my parent's generation knew someone who didn't come home. A teenage neighbour (my mom), a fiance (my dad's aunt), etc.
Great thread
Many Americans know little about Canada's massive contribution to WW2. on this Remembrance Day, here's some facts:
Over 1.1 million Canadians served, fighting in key battles across Europe, North Africa, and Asia, and the Royal Canadian Navy became the third-largest navy in the world by 1945.

Interesting alternative to eating all the power and water here to power AI. How we use AI is another entire issue that needs WAY more discussion as I have serious concerns we need better regulations to protect we the people. But this at least solves some of the power and cooling issues.

Yep. That's the winner
I’m told “the Pedolands” has already been suggested and yeah, that’s the winner

Love this shot so much!
My favourite shot of my visit to The Royal, yesterday. I love photos that tell a story; and I shoot far too few of them.
For the record, the goats, horses and cattle I saw were far (far!) better groomed than was (am?) I 😂
Been too long; forgot how much I love ag fairs.

Great thread ending with this, but the interesting thing is that I was just having this same thought about bookkeeping/accounting. The accounting programs are putting AI into many of the tasks and even reporting. I don't use those. I look at the data. That's how I find things.
I could go on forever about this, but my point is that the hardship of work, the struggle, the messiness, the *humanity* of it, if you will, is what's most valuable about it. It's how we learn, it's how we grow.

Replacing that with "AI" cheapens and degrades the process, and leaves us the poorer.

I have a spreadsheet that tracks all of my transportation spending. I'm like Madeleine; I live without a car. I track my transit, cab, & Communauto spending. Last year I spent under $800 total & that included cabs to & from the airport. Probably would've cabbed that even if I owned a car
I'm taking a day trip to Hamilton with my son. We could take a Communauto car share car, or a hypothetical car we own, or GO train and then a bus, or GO train and then taxi. Which will be cheapest and fastest? Let's calculate!

Businesses that don't have their physical address up front and center on their website and socials 🤯
There's a business being promoted in an email from an association. I click the link to their website ... scroll and scroll and scroll and 🤷‍♀️

The fence is still up most places around the new PARK (no longer a parking lot) but I could see more of it. Grand opening tomorrow. I am so excited to be able to walk through this and see all of the aspects particularly the playground area

A little William Prince to make your toes tap. I love his voice - so soothing. Also, this song is stuck in my head and I've only listened to it twice. Sticky tune.

I've been weirdly invested in the mayor race for a city I've never been to that's in a country I will probably never visit again.
But, I am very pleased and relieved to see this result.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next
I am really excited to see what we can get done with Mayor Mamdani. When it comes to the things a mayor actually has control over, I think there's a lot of opportunity to truly transform the city for the better in lots of ways. Let's goooooooo!

Two things can be true at the same time, Canada.

1. Yes, I’m disappointed with some of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s approaches so far, particularly around climate action, and his definations of “nation-building.” We should expect better.

2. Carney is still light-years better than Pierre Poilievre.

I have no idea how either of them might be problematic (or not!) but I love this and Denmark must have the coolest gifts to give other nations.
Anyway, we need some joy, so here's the Egyptian foreign minister being given a Lego Pyramid by the Danish foreign minister.
