In the weeds takeaways:

-Five schools joined the A-list
-Most city schools earned a C
-A lot of city schools earned an A in growth - student growth year-over-year. But many earned an F in assessment - the state test scores. That means students are progressing, but still below grade level.

How long before an ICE agent gets drunk on Bourbon and starts a fight?

Walking the dog and came across a black suburban no plates windows blacked out and engine on idle. According to neighbors they have been cruising the area. Pritchard Place and Cambronne #neworleans they were parked there for at least an hour. Maybe they got sick of me walking past them. Now gone

I had a run in with ICE snatching a man out of his car while walking my children to school this morning in NW DC

I asked a neighbor to continue walking my kids to school and I turned back to document and confront the ICE agents.

I am in contact with @dcmigrantmutualaid.org with the full video.

*Oh good another take about how reader-funded journalism can't survive*

Is it from a writer?

1000% of the time the answer is yes.

Why are writers so dead set on killing this model, one might ask? You don't want to be reader-funded? Fine. Stop trying to take down your colleagues. It's getting old

Nine years later --- I write about this one A LOT.

Parents should know when a charter group is considering closing a school. In this case it was part public records law and part - my checking every single charter agenda every month.

I moderated a panel on special education reporting last week, and COPAA's legal director's details on the gutting of OCR were terrifying.
The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.
