If you haven’t, read her superb essay in @newyorker.com about her journey since her cancer diagnosis. A remarkable person. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

"We are grieving the loss of institutional memory, of mentorship, of the quiet competence that made crises manageable even when resources were thin. We are grieving the realization that dedication alone cannot protect an agency from leaders determined to destroy it."
Grateful for this CDC elegy.

NCAR climate scientists collaborated with me when I was an early career researcher. They helped me and the PhD students I worked with understand climate modeling. Two of the PhD students I worked with spent summers at NCAR as Next Generation Fellows. The Admin might close the door on a generation.

NCAR is quite literally our global mothership.

Everyone who works in climate and weather has passed through its doors and benefited from its incredible resources.

Dismantling NCAR is like taking a sledgehammer to the keystone holding up our scientific understanding of the planet.

Unbelievable.

Yes. College journalists are the best of the best. Please support their work—even (especially) when they’re covering events they shouldn’t have to.

If you are sharing information tonight, please share the work of these local, early-career journalists before the update feed of a mega legacy news co.

The CDC’s mission was to protect and improve lives. When it starts echoing arguments used by anti-vaccine groups, something has gone terribly wrong. We must demand clarity, transparency, and a return to evidence-based messaging — for the health of the entire nation.
