Sacrebleu, une voyage l'enfer! The puppet(!) goes for top billing (obv) but really impressed w each aspect - merciless w the vampire horror, a fabulous setting (country vs city, sure), completely blown away w the pairing of Kacey Mottet Klein + Ariane Labed and how they danced throughout.

The Handmaid's Tale. I was maybe 10? and an aunt who knew I liked books passed it on. Parents had no idea, I HAD NO IDEA, these poor women just grinded down, but geez did that open a lot of doors, including "the system is sick" which refracted into teen punk shit and all the rest of my suspicions.

Gloomy times, getting to know Bava and Barbara Steele (new crush, obv). The castle action is great, umpteen secret passages, but those "outside" scenes? WHOA - fog starts rolling thru twisted trees, dank tombstones, and the painted backdrops, me just muttering 'oh yess' at the gothic splendor.

Think this one is for the folk horror fanatics. Sound & sights are lush and the story skews weird for fae, Dev and McEwan are a magic screen couple, but it stays too soft for me, a little too dream-ish and drone-y after the initial menace and mystery. What spell are you even casting?
