The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Asexual people are not a disease. We are not a malady. We are not deficient. We are part of the human sexuality spectrum. Everyone is different, and asexuality is a natural variance to it. People who claim they want to "cure" us are hateful mossbacks, full stop.

Thankfully we have decades of recorded history of queer people navigating society that wanted us erased and dead to pick up those awesome life hacks

There’s only a few hours left of the 2025 Project for Awesome, but there’s still time to tune in!

So far, we’ve raised over $3.25 million! 25% of that goes to Partners in Health, another 25% to Save the Children!

If you want to donate, vote for charities, or watch, head to projectforawesome.com!

I was so excited to speak at @partnersinhealth.bsky.social Engage’s U Chicago chapter today, and the meeting went so well!!

I taught a brief history of TB (focusing on its romanticized, racialized, and gendered nature in the 1800s), while the rest of our group made Valentine’s Day cards!

This is 67 cases--a tiny fraction of TB's global burden, which exceeds 10,000,000 active cases per year.

But the longer we allow a curable illness to infect and kill millions, the more TB we'll see in the U.S. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease, and TB anywhere is a threat to humans everywhere.

Danaher promised to release an audit of the cost of production of their GeneXpert tests. Over a year later, they still haven't made the audit public.

Just so they don't forget, we've added a new feature to tbfighters.org. No need to thank us, Danaher!

New research from @everytown.bsky.social found that firearm suicide rates are more than 3X higher in US cities with the most gun shops per person compared to cities with the fewest.

Preventing access to guns in times of crisis can and does save lives.
Association between US city firearms dealers and firearm suicide rates, 2015–2021
Background Firearm suicides are more prevalent in cities than many recognise. Extant research—though conducted at different geographic levels or on different types of firearm deaths—suggests that…

Got to join my wife Zooey Zephyr for her swearing in today on day 1 of the Montana legislature.

I was so happy to be at her side, and I know how much she cares about the work ahead.

I’ll be there at her side always, for her, for our community, and for all the people who depend on us.

Now is the perfect time to talk about gun safety with friends and family.

Before your holiday gatherings, ask about the presence of guns in homes your children visit and if those guns are securely stored—unloaded, locked, and stored separately from ammunition. Learn more: https://etwn.us/3Iv8iwq
