Just to be clear, states have constitutional authority over their elections, not the federal government.

Some in the media are depicting Trump's cutoff of aid to Ukraine as a result of his testy meeting with Zelenskyy last week. That's naive. What's far more likely is that Trump planned to abandon Ukraine even before the meeting and set up the televised ambush of Zelenskyy as a pretext.
