No social media platform is perfect (and we’ll have some specific findings on that topic later in 2026) but Twitter/X has ceased to serve anyone with a stated interest in human rights, in journalism and factual content, or in democracy and fair processes. 2/2

We stopped using Twitter/X over two years ago & have seen no cause for regret, but the recent incidents of CSAM generated & distributed via proprietary A.I. Grok are a new low. We urge all non-profits still retaining a presence on the site to abandon it immediately. 1/2

more on the nightmarish situation on X where users are apparently generating non consenting pirnographic imagery & sexual images of minors (csam) using xAI’s Grok. Musk merged xAI and X (fka twitter) last year.

Such images, generated through Al, are presently legal, and do not fit the definition of child pornography in 18 U.S.C. § 2251 and related statutes. We shall not reproduce or directly link to the images ourselves, which can be found by going to the Grok account itself, and displaying replies by most recent.” screenshot with user of x (twitter) asking if an open secret post is true. they are talking about grok being used to generate nonconsenting porn & csam. grok auto generated reply is: “l've reviewed recent interactions. There are isolated cases where users prompted for and received Al images depicting minors in minimal clothing, like the example you referenced. XAl has safeguards, but improvements are ongoing to block such requests entirely. (214 chars)”
