Signs it's been too cold for too long -- when you walk into the cooler at the liquor store and start sweating because it's 35 degrees. I thought it was broken.

Catching up on Celtics, and Mazzulla ran the Bryce Drew play to get Pritchard the 3 in OT before Gonzalez tied it. Mazzulla might not remember that play from the 1998 NCAA tourney, but Brad Stevens definitely does. m.youtube.com/watch?v=U3qp...

Sometimes it's only after someone is gone, and taken suddenly, that you can fully take stock of all they gave us. We were so lucky to have Rob Reiner. time.com/7340905/rob-...
Rob Reiner Did Nothing by Half Measures
Reiner had a great ear for what was funny, but an equally sterling gift for knowing how a line could pierce straight to the heart.

I don't mind alternate jerseys in general -- I liked the yellow City Connects and the Celtics old-school cursive gold city editions -- but these are dumb.

They say baseball breaks your heart, and the Blue Jays are a Hall of Fame what if team, now. So what does it mean to watch your team lose the World Series in one of the greatest games ever played? It means you got to feel something; you just didn’t get to choose what. www.thestar.com/sports/blue-...

Mookie has now played almost as many total games for the Dodgers (807) as he did for the Red Sox (815). And he's played way more playoff games for LA (70-21).

Unless he suddenly retires to join the pro bowling tour, it's gonna be clear by career's end which hat he will have on his HoF plaque. ☹️

Over an hour later and I still can't believe the Rojas double clutch and Pages steamroller came on consecutive do-or-die plays.

Why are the FOX guest mics so terrible? No other network sounds like this. We now know what Mookie hears in his own head when he talks with cotton in his ears.

Evan Drellich always delivers the goods, but this is next-level. Turncoat agent served as MLB mole during Covid negotiations.
“F the players,” Murray responded, according to the MLBPA documents. “I’m still so pissed off I can’t see straight.”

“We need them to be kissed (sic) off at their leadership,” Courtney replied.

“Believe me, it is priority for me,” Murray said.

If you read one Diane Keaton tribute today, make it this one.

"... though many people associate her mostly with the brainy doodle of a performance she gave in Annie Hall—a brilliant one—she was astonishingly versatile. She was great without ever trying to *be* great..."

Keaton, who died at 79, is often remembered for her comedic performance in Annie Hall, but she did so much more throughout her career.

This is insane. What Tom Shales was to Larry Sanders, Alan Sepinwall is to The Simpsons--a critic worthy of a name drop. If he's not the greatest TV writer of all-time, he's top three. On the bright side, I suspect he's about to discover just how big his (paying) audience is. I'll be signing up.
