My aunt and uncle went without power for 2.5 months after Maria. My grandfather who lives in San Juan went even longer. The power lines were the most impactful image of many tonight.
Bad Bunny is telling the world that the people in Puerto Rico are American citizens and deserve reliable and resilient electricity and infrastructure investment from the U.S. government.

in conclusion, statehood for dc and pr
Puerto Rico hasn't had reliable power in a decade.

The grid sends occasional surges through the wires that fry appliances.

Electricity rates are among the highest in the entire U.S.

Heat waves are getting intense in the summer, and outages mean A/C is no guarantee for an aging population.

I will eventually shut up about this but Bad Bunny’s use of the power lines is an outstanding example of how to communicate about climate and energy issues. Not about who is the smartest nerd in the room and spewing numbers but about people’s actual lives. Genius.

At this point I’ll be mad if there’s a TD in the game

You know who actually found our dogs when they got out last fall? The Latina mom across the street who sprinted out her front door because she recognized them.

Yet to hear a satisfying answer to “what training do you think actually stops someone from doing this when it’s what they want to do?”
“Funds for training” only make state violence more expensive and allow them to polish their impunity and hone their violent tactics at even greater expense (it’s already *at our expense*). Be discerning.

Impeach her regardless.

A Senate trial would be a great tool for keeping the public's attention on federal lawlessness, and for focusing disinterested cost-of-living lawmakers on DHS. More fundamentally, these people need to be disqualified.
Donald Trump must fire Kristi Noem immediately.

Or Democrats will initiate impeachment proceedings against her in the House.

We can do this the easy way or the hard way.

Democrats - it’s everyone’s fear that they’ll turn into their parents so please don’t trigger me becoming my dad on the couch grumbling “they should call it the Prevent Wins defense”
For any elected official who needs to hear this, I impart a lesson learned from the NFL:

When the other team is tired and on the back foot, you don’t call a timeout so they can catch their breath. You grind their fucking face into the dirt until the final whistle blows and you’ve won the game.
