I want to start doing a little world-building experiment for Foofaraw with short tweet-length “stories” on social media—heavily inspired by Night Vale. Do I have any writers interested in doing something like that?

The upcoming proposed rules surrounding NSFW art are bad and the Bsky mod team should feel bad.

Fellow artists: Remember that even if you don't make NSFW art, rules like these eventually come back to bite us all, especially if we make works about queerness.

There's a concept in pro wrestling called heat: i.e. when the crowd is feverish with hatred for the loathsome villain. This is good.

There's also something called "go away heat."

When a reader calls your character "unlikeable" they mean they have go away heat; they just want to see less of them.

I've been doing a lot of editing/reviewing this year and it's been a really interesting experience! (positive)

One of the great things about being a contrarian in my writing choices is I usually have a really solid way to justify rejections to myself

I don't think the mechanical act of parsing characters into sounds is very important to the experience of enjoying a book? I'm honestly baffled that people think there is some kind of stolen valour in listening to audiobooks.
This debate over whether or not audiobooks count as reading has made me realize that lots of people view reading as a kind of chore. “I got more reading points than you!” It’s weird and sad.

Since I started making my own bread I have really come to understand the idiom "the best thing since sliced bread."

My unreasonable audiobook pet peeve: when a character is described as "french canadian" but the narrator voices them with a france-french accent.

PSA - if you're pulling a mask out of the mask dispenser and you take two by accident, don't try to put the extra one back. Just keep it. NO-ONE wants a pre-stretched face-mask of unknown provenance.
