We talk about "centering the joy" in game design - focusing on how good it feels to simply move and exist in the world of the game. It occurs to me that Nintendo's success at this might be owed to their history of making physical toys. Easier to center the joy if you study it IRL.

Back from GDQ and woooah I got a lot of followers on Twitch. So hey, new friends, I stream *full time* (my sole occupation for 10 years) Monday - Friday with occasional bonus weekend streams. Usually I start around 7:30pm EST but today I'll start a bit earlier so we can have a fun GDQ recap stream.

I figured eventually GDQ would move away from Pittsburgh. It's a personal bummer that both GDQs are about to be bonkers expensive for me. I love the event with all my heart and want to attend, run, or volunteer every single time.

My GDQ run is tomorrow around 2:20 pm EST. I'm a little nervous, I always am. It will go well, it always does. All week I've been trying to try new things, make new friends, new activities, new foods. Next new thing to try is not to worry so much.

Won my first Kuso Grande round playing "Primitive Woman" for NES. Inverse relationship between the quality of the platforming physics and the quality of fun! I'm still alive for the next round!

Very lovely first day at GDQ. Hitting the ground running despite it being slippy aht. Had a fantastic time on the hcuoc for auth's WMS nur. Everyone is beautiful and talented and my heart is light.

2025 was the year I quit smoking, bought a house, and went to the gym 123 times. I finished over 100 canvasses and streamed full time all year.
I'm bad at congratulating myself, or feeling like I'm enough - always pushing myself to work more. But I'm trying it out just for a day. Then back to work!
