Don't believe everything you think.
I don't like reposting from the Nazi Bar, but the @saveosc.bsky.social account didn't post their update here: The Ontario Science Centre, which was closed in June 2024 because the roof was an immediate danger, survived the storm despite no major repairs in the year and a half since closing.

Has anyone told him that he doesn't need to walk to Santa Clara?
President Donald Trump will not be attending Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, Calif., he said in an interview with the New York Post.

“It’s just too far away,” he said.

Shovel-tuskers! Ancient elephants like Amebelodon are an evolutionary success story, and we’re only just starting to understand how they used their exceptional jaws. I’ll tell you more at Smithsonian. 🧪
Strange, Shovel-Tusked Elephants Puzzled Paleontologists, Until Experts Took a Closer Look at Their Teeth
The animals' extended lower jaws were seemingly made for scooping, but research over the past few decades has found they could do a lot more than initially expected

I mean nobody likes shrill noises, that's kind of the point in making them: to get attention because nobody likes them.

But if you're saying that you're particularly sensitive to them, you may want to get yourself checked for a sensory processing disorder, and conditions like autism linked to it.
Whistles are now WMDs, according to the "high IQ" crowd.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Today feels like an awful day to have a job that can't be done from the comfort of a home office.

Okay, just started watching the BBC adaptation (with Netflix as the international distributor) and because the American version was localised to take place in Connecticut instead of Buckinghamshire, I was *very* thrown by the houses and then even moreso by the accents.
The "A Good Girl's Guide To Murder" book series by Holly Jackson was great, and I really hope the Netflix adaptation is picked up until they've covered all three books because I am curious to see how they handle the final book.

Also, excellent final line.

Once again, I think I've had more than enough suicidal media for the day.

I'm currently being subjected to more videos of actual killings than back in the day when I was an edgy internet nerd who frequented Rotten .com and there's no way that's good for anyone's mental health.

You do not, in fact, have to hand it to Joe Rogan for realising what has been obvious for a long time, after he helped the Trump administration get elected. Let me know when he's flying to Minnesota to yell at ICE agents.
Joe Rogan: “What ICE is doing, like fucking shooting that lady, seems kind of crazy. Grabbing people that happen to be American citizens and fucking dragging them out onto the snow and asking them for their papers. That seems kind of fucking crazy,”

Reupping this for folks looking down the barrel of this huge winter storm.

You should look up other tips to prepare as well. Example: If you have travel/rechargeable batteries, fill 'em up now. I have a couple plugged in as I write this.
If you get snow this weekend and aren't familiar with it — or even if you are — shoveling is very tough work. This is a decent list of dos and don'ts… but I'd add don't do it *at all* if you're over 50. It's very hard on the heart, especially in extreme cold.

Are there Albertans that want to split from Canada? Yes. Do they have anywhere near the numbers needed to make it happen? No.

Would they even be allowed to keep Treaty Lands that were agreed upon between the Crown and First Nations before Alberta existed as a thing if they did? Very debatable.
Bessent pushes Albertan independence from Canada: "Albertans are very independent people. There's a rumor they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not. People are talking. People want sovereignty. They want what the US has got."
