New in PN: The DOJ's "election monitoring" is really voter intimidation

"If Hispanic voters are no longer in the GOP fold after watching Trump’s ceaseless, country-wide violence against immigrants, the administration’s solution is to make sure they can’t cast a ballot."
The DOJ's "election monitoring" is really voter suppression

I feel called out.
It’s so funny that for the past week republicans have all been like “the only people out there are gonna be Hamas.” Everyone in this crowd is signed up for Kohl’s rewards points.

The numbers I am seeing, and the breadth of people and places with basically no arrests and so forth, seem to me an unqualified political loss for them. It is a show of strength rather than the fight itself, but you can’t downplay it.

The last time active military circled above my head I was in Kosovo. So, like, an ACTUAL war zone.

Hey Portland…
(This is behind a paywall. They broke the story. I will link another article from them that is not behind the paywall but explains how they verified their reporting).
The messages show high-level officials in the Trump administration discussing the possible deployment of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, an infantry force that has dropped into combat zones in both World Wars, Vietnam and Afghanistan.
Trump officials discussed sending elite Army division to Portland, text messages show
A high-ranking White House official was indiscreetly texting about the Portland, Ore., planning last weekend, according to messages shared with the Minnesota Star Tribune.

I’m from the Portland area. We like our coffee pretentious and pretend our beer is not. We’ll line up for hours to get a chance to feed carrots to the local therapy llamas and once made a roll of old airport carpet the grand marshal of our yearly rose parade. So, like, yeah—totally “War-ravaged.”

Twenty years after the comedy went silent, Russia is a sadistic, warmongering fascist regime run by a mad centibillionaire. That’s a future that could be ours — whole argument of "Road to Unfreedom" — but also one we can stop — see "On Tyranny" and "On Freedom."

It’s the stupid part that is the most irritating.

It’s not even remotely clever. Or stealthy. Or sophisticated.

It’s just…dumb.
We are in a new McCarthy era, only an even more stupid one.

I kid! I don’t have a Venmo account.
Everyone who's been funding Antifa should be very very worried.
Big day for wrongthink.

So, we’re officially at the: “Then they came for the comedians” part.

And we’ve totally in the middle of the academics/teachers part.

I’m trying to remember what’s next. Clergy, I think.

Crap. My best friend is a priest.

Wake up. Log on. Check for life. Go, “Meh.” Log off.

(And yes, I’ve obviously adjusted my prior-to-the-election prediction of: he’s gonna last less than 2 years.

We’re now at: Let’s see if he even makes it to 9 months.)

Weird times. Also, is this officially a Vegas-thing, yet?

I slept in. Is he dead yet?

Two things can be true.
Trump’s probably not dead, but he’s definitely in the Epstein files.

Wait, what? Does he think total surrender = negotiation? I mean…maybe?

Though my liberated ancestors would like a word….
JD Vance: "This is how wars ultimately get settled. If you go back to World War 2, if you go back to every major conflict in human history, they all end with some kind of negotiation."

We did not put John Bolton’s name in the headline for a reason. It’s not about him, per se; it’s about the numerous people who Trump wants the government to destroy because they hurt Trump’s feelings
