So I am running the London Lea Valley 50km in March and trying to raise some money for Step Forward - a youth centre in Tower Hamlets, Kiddo attends their LGBTQIA+ group and it's been such a brilliant and supportive space for them, which feels so important when trans youth are under constant attack.

So many of the things AI is proposed as. Solution for could be done with templates and models.

AI does not make things more personal than a template.

THIS!!!

Anyone who thinks those of use who emigrated to Britain by some route that was not asylum don't feel attacked by everything being said about immigration lately, or even by the changes made to the routes we are/were on, is deluded.

The whole system is hostile.

If you've been pretending 2026 doesn't exist but use creative methods and would like to attend this fantastic conference next September, you might need to stop pretending for a moment and get a proposal in.
Just a quick reminder! Only 5 days left to get your proposal in for #ICRMC 2026!

If you’re working with creative or unconventional research methods, we’d love to hear from you.

reminder to cis male writers:

If you publish words in the public square (that's what "publish" means)

they are public

and no longer yours to control

nobody owes tagging you or talking to you privately if they're gonna critique what you said

that is the inherent risk of making things

welcome

Shabana Mahmood is an avatar of open Britain – that’s what makes her fable about immigration so seductive | Nesrine Malik

On our walk earlier today my partner realized he had missed a packet of Brie when he put away the shopping yesterday. This came in handy for a snack at the halfway point of the walk.

It might seem insignificant to many, but in this time of such strong pushback against feminism, just seeing Hollie Davidson refereeing an international men’s match makes me a bit emotional.

If, like me, you are a bit hit and miss about making these, I recommend cards with generic holiday greetings. Your goal is for people to be pleasantly surprised if they receive cards before Christmas. And pleased to hear from you regardless.

I was at a conference on Weds about use of AI in public services and noticed how AI as sticky tape over broken systems is becoming the norm, designing or implementing better systems is becoming more and more of a luxury.

Some people mistake making connections & networking with subservience & authority-pleasing. Wrong. You can be an effective influencer on real life outcomes even with saying non-conforming stuff. This is how we make meaningful change. Don’t believe that agreement is always the route to getting heard.

I am currently, because I know how to enjoy a Saturday morning, writing some guidance for people on filling this consultation in. As I do several things are highly apparent. Before I go through them though I don't want this to put people off of filling it in. It is important to do so nonetheless. 1/
Government has today published its consultation into "earned settlement", the forward alone contains a hot mess of misrepresentation of the current system by the Home Secretary. I would strongly urge anyone affected by the current system to respond.

A thread to read on a Friday, whether your art is writing or any other kind of creating. #DHmakes
This is why you have to love the work. When publishing and fortune kick you in the face, the page will still be there for you. When all you get are nos, the story will be your yes. You can't count on sales or marketing money, but you can count on the feeling of flow, of creation, the joy of art.

Today we went to Girona, had a wander round the historic bit. Went to the Jewish Museum which was very interesting. My phone thinks I walked 7500 steps and climbed 19 flights of stairs. Girona is quite steep.
