I hate broadcasting Trump’s thoughts, but I think it is critical that even people already dead set against him see the depth of his depravity and cognitive decline. Show this to people who still think he has good ideas about the economy or whatever they cling to.
this is one of the most psychotic things Trump has ever posted

Six years earlier, I'm going to invent the genre that became the hook of the biggest sitcom of this century.
Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

This is just some ordinary dude no one had ever heard of, quietly getting by, and the administration has decided in a fit of pique to hound him for the rest of his life because otherwise they'd have to tacitly admit they're capricious incompetent villains. Just let him live, ffs

So love wobbegongs. Everything is good about the wobbegong. Its name. Its flattened Oscar the Grouch face. Its frondy bits. Its lazy life as a hungry rug. And it’s a shark. Outstanding animal 10/10
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

Remember the part in the old Peter Pan play where Peter tells the boys and girls in the audience that if they all just clap harder they can save Tinkerbell?

That's what Trump's Cabinet Meeting reminded me of. A bunch of children wildly applauding him, all in an effort to bring him back to life.

A blast from my past - the Medieval Soldier database takes nearly 300,000 military service records from 1369-1453 and makes them available as a searchable database.

An invaluable resource for understanding medieval warfare, society and the English medieval state. Learn more in the link. 🗃️
We built a database of 290,000 English medieval soldiers – here’s what it reveals
We created the database in order to challenge assumptions about the lack of professionalism of everyday soldiers.

If you think this administration has any interest in establishing ANY kind of democracy anywhere, I have a swamp in Florida to sell you.
As Donald Trump weighs military intervention in Venezuela, the U.S. should not forget one key fact, Michael Albertus writes. “Establishing a durable democracy is far harder than unseating a dictator”:
What Democracy in Venezuela Would Require
Toppling a dictatorship is easier than building a functional state to take its place.

I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

I think tonight shows why “moderate to win elections” is a real risk

the big divide in the Dem caucus, as many have noted, has been less moderate vs progressive than fight versus don’t fight

but it’s not a coincidence that basically everyone in the “don’t fight” camp is a moderate
