I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

@extrahotgreat.com I was weirdly disappointed Night Man wasn't eligible for the superhero bracket because I have inflicted these credits on everyone. And @sarahdbunting.bsky.social, Journeyman is a great pick. I always love that he keeps stealing his own cell phone. www.youtube.com/watch?v=47MM...

This is a really cool interview and I'm definitely going to check this out and also catch up on her Kenny G doc.

TIL on the second anniversary of her death that Glynis Johns played a mermaid. Twice. Absolutely MIRANDA (1948) is on the list now.

In honor of Doug lamalfa's passing, let's not forget his greatest hits
He was my rep. He was too much of a coward to actually show his face in district for 8 years, but he did send an underling to stir up shit at a local school meeting when some kid came out as nonbinary. Just a real piece of shit through and through. Good riddance!

OK, how the hell does the third movie in a series be the best version? Oh...why? Is this movie (and it is) very well filmed and acted and heartfelt? It is. Because this movie isn't about zombies. It i...

@markharris.bsky.social I somehow haven't watched It's A Wonderful Life since reading FIVE CAME BACK and damn, the WWII section of this montage really does hit differently knowing about Capra in WWII. Thank you.

"Ohhh, youth is wasted on the wrong people!" might be the best movie line of the '40s.

You know...when I put on It's A Wonderful Life because I didn't see it this season and I had completely forgotten about Gower's son dying of influenza and how he made a mistake.

Damn it Capra, way to be effective.

I wish I still had a podcast because I need to argue for an hour about 28 Years Later, which I absolutely loved but I know other people won't.

I think it’s a bit more complicated, mostly no one was too excited about a third Walz term (no governor has ever won a third term), which left him vulnerable to these types of attacks. I also think that between the VP campaign and the assassination of Melissa Hortman, he might be pretty burnt out.

RIP Loren Carpenter (1947-2025), who I just learned passed away on December 21 at the age of 78. He worked for the Lucasfilm Computer Graphics Division (where he helped create the Genesis effect for Star Trek 2, and Rescue on Fractalus!). He co-created RenderMan and was chief scientist of Pixar. 🤯

There you go.

The US media is both-sidesing war: "mixed reactions" is what they call people who didn't like Maduro but were just under military assault.

Foreign media like @afp.com are saying things plainly: *trauma* and *utter disbelief* in a neighborhood bombed by the US military.
