Amazing line in the editorial: “That Australia Day (can April 25 be far behind?) is a day of mourning is orthodox opinion in schools and universities.”
Got it: you’re opposed to mourning on Anzac Day – nationalist flag waving only.

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”
Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

This is seriously inhumane. Recent examples in Australia include a Brisbane woman who had a box of her dying child's possessions taken in a sweep. One can only imagine the outcry if this were inflicted upon any other part of society.

Yes, the Y2K software problem turned out to be a nonevent. But 25 years ago, The New York Times took it seriously, publishing over 100 stories.

Our tech reporter who wrote a front-page article on Jan. 1, 2000, reflects on the crisis that never was.

In ancient Egypt, people drank low alcohol beer and wine to avoid the parasites in "raw water." The old graves, which I excavate, are full of children who died from diseases we now can vaccinate against. You are ghouls for promoting this garbage.
Untreated water enthusiasts swear by natural springs, or “raw water.” Many of them are part of the so-called health freedom movement, which opposes vaccine mandates, pasteurized milk and other government public health interventions.

The reason that Australian universities are dependent on international student revenues is also the result of government policy. From the Howard years on, funding for domestic undergraduate places was strangled. Universities were told to make up the difference by enrolling overseas students

Hmm, the Opposition are happy to pass this with “The actual detail will come later, through the completion of a trial of age-assurance technology in mid-2025“, yet when it came to The Voice it was “if you don’t know, vote no” - hypocrisy much? Or just outright racism?
