Just an FYI: We’re not facing a “government shutdown.” This is a Trump-MAGA Republican shutdown. Call it what it is.

Imagine the budget if we were actually at war.
THE PENTAGON BUDGET JUST HIT A TRILLION DOLLARS.

Not a single pundit from either political party said “how are we going to pay for it?!”

Don’t dare tell us we cannot ALL have healthcare, housing, and education.

I never posted these photos I took a dozen days ago in Washington, D.C., when thousands of people marched through the streets of the U.S. Capital as part of a "Day of Action" across all 50 states. Today, May Day, more protests across the country. Go to the 50501 website for events in your location.

On my very first trip to NYC, in 1982, on spring break from the University of Missouri with a used Canon F-1 and some Kodachrome, I photographed these girls staging on West 46th Street for that year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The city, the country, the world and I were all so different then.

Sixty years ago today, these white cops did this to their fellow citizens in Alabama.
On this day in 1965, police brutally attacked hundreds of civil rights activists during a march in Selma, Alabama, now known as Bloody Sunday.

Criminalizing the resistance to genocide begets criminalizing all resistance to fascism.
Trump here is is referring to pro-Palestine protests so you won’t hear a peep from conservatives or even pro-Israel liberals. But just imagine if this was Biden referring to ‘illegal protests’ by conservative students or pro-life groups. Free speech brigade would be going mad!

Our coup got coupier. Our authoritarianism got more authoritarian. And of course this is stupidity as a battering ram against what is legal and constitutional, because they weaponize stupidity.
If you wonder how countries slip into dictatorship, it’s like this.

Amidst another flurry of news, an official adds at the end that Trump has signed an Executive Order saying that “only the President or Attorney General can speak for the US…as to what the law is.”

What?!

ATTN: Since the White House only posted the Fact Sheet of his ~only the president and AG can say what the law is~ EO, I moved the email of the actual EO, which was sent to the press list from the Office of Communications, into a PDF and posted it.
