I am emailing on behalf of Spokes planning group. We note with concern the proposed closure of St Marks Path. https://www.c-c-g.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Site-Info-Sheet-Powderhall-1.pdf The main issues we would highlight: 1) there is currently no visible signage notifying path users of this closure 2) The path is to be closed for 8 weeks, a significant proportion of which is during the contractors proposed Christmas shut down period 3) we are not aware of alternatives having been explored vs shutting the path 4) there is a suggested pedestrian diversion but it it not clear what alternative provision there will be for those cycling 5) there is a suggestion that this closure could be extended beyond 8 weeks map of the closure online concerns... ‪johnrobson87.bsky.social‬ ‪@johnrobson87.bsky.social‬ · 13h This is not appropriate with such short notice and no diversion. Surely access could have been via a diversion through the old waste reclaim site? Update @edi.bike @spokes.org.uk Comiston Rd closure has a 🚧 gap that is passable with care on carriageway (see grey jacket cyclist route) so pleasant compared to Braid Rd.
@edinreporter.bsky.social is it not odd the petrol station is also closed for roof works right now? Some coincidence!

Comiston Rd closed for emergency repairs but cycles able to proceed in both directions to closure then walk on pavement.
Braid Rd is busy but Quiet Route is OPEN.
Beware drivers suddenly pulling into n’bound bus lane to make U turn at Braid Hills Rd jnct.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a cyclist was seriously assaulted on Blackhall Cycle Path, near to Davidson Mains, Edinburgh. The incident took place around 6.05pm on Tuesday, 2 September, 2025. The cyclist, a 46-year-old man, was cycling away from the Drylaw area on his green vintage-style Dutch bike. The suspect was riding an offroad dirt bike and is described as white, around 5ft 10 and slim build, but their gender is unknown.

People were in favour of a new school and the prefered option was approved by Councillors in February 2024. The path at the North end of the Edinburgh Arena Construction site is now fenced off, doesn't seem like the contractors have made any effort to signpost this. Diversion up the steep offroad steps up to the Station or right via South Gyle Crescent seem to the options. #edtravcyc

Edinburgh’s cycle hire scheme is still set for a ‘soft launch’ in August, despite concerns that it would be delayed and with no operator yet in place. A small number of dockless electric hire bikes are expected to be on city streets by the week of August 18, with the scheme expanding from there. The city’s transport boss has said the scheme will be implemented ‘diligently’, and in a way that fits the Capital’s ‘specific needs’.

Update on this is that the barriers have now been removed by the contractor on after ELC contacted them on 10th June and the tarmac will be resurfaced w/c 14th July.
