Person on a 🚲 in Edinburgh & beyond!
Yep it would useful if Voi & @edinhelp or BS equiv could respond to these concerns. I spotted the app now has photos which show temporary corners for “parking area” however up in Burntsfield they moved the well use dock and still people park at the old one?! 🤷‍♂️

Update @edi.bike @spokes.org.uk Comiston Rd closure has a 🚧 gap that is passable with care on carriageway (see grey jacket cyclist route) so pleasant compared to Braid Rd.
@edinreporter.bsky.social is it not odd the petrol station is also closed for roof works right now? Some coincidence!
October 27, 2025 at 7:57 AM
Comiston Rd closed for emergency repairs but cycles able to proceed in both directions to closure then walk on pavement.
Braid Rd is busy but Quiet Route is OPEN.
Beware drivers suddenly pulling into n’bound bus lane to make U turn at Braid Hills Rd jnct.

Used this yesterday. Such an improvement! 🙌

🪫 Seems to be popular but only 4 bikes available since this afternoon. Many bikes at docks but batteries are flat… obviously early days but prospective users getting disappointed & can’t be relied upon yet.
Did VOI forget the spare batteries 🔋 or are Edinburgh hills too steep?

Used today which was great. Agree the slightly passive aggressive speed signs are bizarre. Just say “slow farm traffic” rather than singling out cycles 🙄
However progress is great and good to know access is possible 👍

This was it on Thursday…
Amazing how knackered the road is from just bus use.

Best to use @realtimetrains.co.uk & look at detailed view of service.
First screenshot is “simple” view and second is “detailed view”. From the detailed the train class is below the image of the train.
Also on Class 385 the 🚲 symbol on the front means bike space is second doorset of that carriage.

It’s in the right place. On the left adjacent to the button for the signals to head to the right (along the route) or straight ahead but keeping left. There is a sensor too so hopefully will be secondary with limited wait times.
Similar are used in Glasgow & Denmark.

George St bus jam…
would it be easier if Queen St was the diversion route for buses if Princes St is closed?

@spokes.org.uk
Update on this is that the barriers have now been removed by the contractor on after ELC contacted them on 10th June and the tarmac will be resurfaced w/c 14th July.
Thanks to Balfour Beatty for sharing the drone shot of the works 🚁 📸!

Good to see Cala promoting cycle times to their new housing development in Blackford… 😉
Shame no longer Scotrail adverts 🥲@edsouthsub.bsky.social

@spokes.org.uk confusing new Zebra marks added to the pelican crossing to the top of Elm Row. Surely an error as can’t be both? No other pelicans on Leith Walk have zebras at cycleway crossings.
@livingstreetsedi.bsky.social
@showmeasign.online any thoughts?
June 13, 2025 at 7:52 AM
@eastlothiancouncil.bsky.social also adding barriers to non-existent side roads at Cockenzie. This one has a fence but newly added barriers remain on both sides?! 🤷‍♂️

Elm Row bidirectional cycleway space to east of tree line and bus stops now complete. Signage, bollards and markings pending but think this will be much better before.

@scottishwater.bsky.social good to see the works on the storm sewer in Marchmont ending but any chance you can make good the couple of metres of path left abandoned please? @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social
Also assume the vent pipe is getting a cast iron cover as looks rubbish? Thanks

Lovely to see this new deck / walkway at Cramond… but is it not a bit of a #AccessibilityFail? Like why are there steps if meant to allow more access for all abilities? 🙄
Seems to be shorter than the drawing on here.

“Supporting Modal” 🤔?
Anyone understand this advert for Levenmouth Rail Link at Edinburgh Waverley.
Surely modal “shift” is being supported?

A bit of odd path narrowing on the John Muir Way at the Prestonpans end of the Musselburgh Ash Lagoons. Already broken at one end. Anyone know why it has been installed?

@jackrmcaldwell.bsky.social can I ask is the Council’s contractor salvaging the setts and tactiles for reuse? Seems a bit odd not to given the cost to replace. They’re smooth enough to be cycled over as laid! Also SUDS for 🌳?
@edi.bike
@spokes.org.uk anyone got the drawings of what’s being built?
May 14, 2025 at 7:39 AM
Indeed a simple diversion using the closed Elm Row carriageway for cycling both ways could be easy to sign. @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social please fix.

An odd map as very disparate parcels of moor & bog.
Baildon Moor, Bingley Bog & St Ives all included.

This linear crater on Teviot Place is acceptable & is “being monitored” by @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social
ref number 101003059322
This is a cycle lane at a busy junction & we shouldn’t need to swerve to avoid this. Please fix ASAP! #VisionZero
