This starting five was so dominant that McHale played the entire 1986-87 season with that towel around his shoulders and still averaged 26.1 ppg. True story.

In his first year of eligibility, Bill Belichick failed to get enough votes for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It's petty, embarrassing, unprecedented, stupid, and preposterous, writes the Globe's Dan Shaughnessy.
Bill Belichick’s first-ballot Hall of Fame snub, however it happened, is a preposterous farce - The Boston Globe
In informal conversations I had with a few of the committee members over recent months, several voters had problems with Belichick’s cheating infractions. Others simply don’t like him.

NFL HOF is an absolutel joke.
Excellent read.
This from @miketanier.bsky.social is good because it’s less about Belichick than the pointless wonkiness of the HOF voting process. miketanier.substack.com/p/go-fk-your...

From Devers to Bregman to nothing.

Make it make sense.

Who's the cheapest?
Measure it how you like, #RedSox still need to fill the offensive hole they've dug by losing out on Alex Bregman (3.3 Offensive WAR, 125 wRC+).

Bo Bichette: 4.7 oWAR, 127 wRC+
Ketel Marte: 4.3 oWAR, 145 wRC+
Eugenio Suarez: 4.3 oWAR, 125 wRC+
Nico Hoerner: 4.5 oWAR, 109 wRC+

No matter how much we paint Boras as a bogeyman, a key part of the job of a front office is to understand the market and get deals done. It’s what they sign up for. It’s may not be easy, but it’s the job.

#RedSox consistently miss out. It’s not an outlier, it’s a pattern.

#RedSox logic for moving on from Rafael Devers was to create payroll flexibility for a free agent such as Alex Bregman or Bo Bichette.

Bregman is now off to #Cubs and Red Sox Nation is still waiting for the front office to make a move.
Four takeaways in wake of Alex Bregman’s five-year, $175 million deal with Cubs
What's next for the Cubs, Scott Boras' winning strategy, Cody Bellinger's demands and the Red Sox's pursuit of Bo Bichette.

So far, as other teams make deals and sign free agents, #RedSox Baseball Boss Breslow is talking, as he did at least year's trade deadline, about how hard it is to make deals.

The entire point of everything I write is to keep Derrick White in Boston.
Trade Machine says this is the winner; Simmons +D White for Trae Young +Pels unprotected 2026 Pick in loaded draft. Young has player option 2026 year so an opt out sign and trade is available. Celtics stay in lux tax. Trae has career revival 2025-26. Celtics get into playoff make some noise.

Last year, the Red Sox went $8M over the CBT threshold. They could have spent $32M on top of that to reinforce the roster, with no other penalties besides a few million in taxes.

Right now, they could spend $80M, with no other penalties, if they wanted.

If you're #MLB, you cannot say you care about the integrity of the game and allow stuff like this.

I mean, what is going on? A missed ball four and a surprise pick-off in a World Series game, no less. Embarrassing.

Yeah, sounds like someone we used to know.
Horford is 39 years old, up to 26 minutes and is working on defense, hopping between Jokić, Gordon and Murray.

And he still had the legs to hit a corner 3.

Please say this louder for the people who think Derrick is a role player.
Since Derrick White became a Celtic...

...Boston is 202-70 (.743)

25 games better than anyone else.

25 games.

Outscoring teams by 2,548 points, no one else is within 1,000.

Making a difference

Put Stanton at short. It will remind nostalgic Yankees fans of watching 2014 Jeter.
Very interested in seeing how weird this is going to get

Stanton's their 2nd best bat, so sitting him hurts, but you realllllly don't want to add him to an already leaky defense, and you can probably slow play it for a week or so, but then if Judge's elbow doesn't come around ...

bring the chaos
The Captain is back!
