Kindness.
What a line from Warren Buffett this morning:

“Be kind, and the world is better off. I'm not sure that the world will be better off if I'm richer."

So the White House story is now:

“We didn’t mean to threaten Harvard, because we didn’t mean to send the threatening letter we sent, but when Harvard rejected the threats we made but didn’t mean to make, we decided to threaten them twice more.”

The country is now run by thugs and idiots.

Due process… faith in the rule of law.
If the case against Kilmar Abrego Garcia is so iron clad and simple, then it ought to be very easy to prove that by bringing him back, giving him due process, and winning in court.

COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER (1980)
One of the best musical biopics ever, Anchored by Sissy Spacek’s luminous, Oscar-winning performance. Also with fine turns by Tommy Lee Jones, Beverly D'Angelo, and Levon Helm. Highly recommended. 🎥

Been reading a little mythology and it seems like one of the main cross-cultural themes is, “do not, under any circumstances, get on a boat.”

A doctor has been serving one of Baltimore’s poorest neighborhoods for decades — and if his patients can’t pay, that’s OK with him.

So when he was diagnosed with cancer, his community rallied to raise $100,000 for his treatments.
For decades, a doctor refused to charge patients who couldn't pay. When he couldn't pay, his patients came to his aid.
When Dr. Michael Zollicoffer was diagnosed with two types of cancer, his patients started a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $100,000.

It’s amazing to me that politicians don’t commit to post first on @bsky.app and to engage with constituents here

THIS is more powerful than CNN , MSNBC, The Post will ever be.

You can broadcast for 9 mins on a declining medium, or engage here and start a real discussion.

Which is more powerful?

Such a strange system. Pricing transparency is a great place to start!
If people knew how often health corporations overcharged taxpayers, their heads would spin. I worked on one case where they were gouging active duty service members by overcharging for breast pumps. Just one of thousands of examples media.defense.gov/2023/Jul/31/...

Gavin’s right.
@gavinnewsom.bsky.social on Mike Johnson considering conditioning disaster aid: "Never in California did we question whether or not we, as taxpayers in the largest state in the Union, should support the people of Louisiana at a time of emergency and need. We’d never condition it."

A beautiful sentiment from a touching tribute. Thanks for this @emilyoram.bsky.social
Almost everyone who’s QTd this who isn’t just posting a crying emoji/gif is mentioning the questions not answers bit but for me it’s this “I always found him to be the most authentically alive person I'd ever met.” The most wonderful way to be described and remembered and something to aspire to.
This is a beautiful tribute.
