OK i have to do other things, so summary thread time.

Here is an actual honest picture of a tech anti-AI stance. Please refer to this instead of any pro-AI strawmen you may see.

First, my credentials:

every time i've put off learning something because i thought it would be really hard and then i finally buckled down and learned it, it...wasn't

pixel art and 3d graphics programming are two examples that come to mind
learning new things takes less "intelligence" (whatever that means) than you think. it's mostly about emotional resilience, trust that you will get it eventually, and willingness to be bad at something for a while. *that* is what atrophies with constant AI reliance.

Quick reminder that it took LESS THAN TWO YEARS to get to this point.
i'm seeing programmers both young and old tell me i'm somehow a standout impressive genius for... learning a programming language without using a chatbot. the skill atrophy is very real

stop using emotional arguments against AI, such as labour rights, the environment, and the rise of neofascism; i'm not capable of the emotional vulnerability required to learn skills that aren't firmly within my comfort zone! i'm also functionally illiterate

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

To the others: I apologize to the world at large for my inadvertent, naive if minor role in enabling this assault.

Like the stuff everyone seems to leaving out in these conversations is "how safe is it to share that information about you", because questions about assuming from presentation are questions about whether you can talk about that stuff openly or whether you'd rather just pass! Why is this an argument!

book is absolutely lovely so far, but this little section stood out to me.

"Drivers and pedestrians said they typically broke laws to save time. Cyclists, however, said they typically broke laws to stay safe."

ridiculously true. at no point on my bike do i think about The Law. i think about safety

they didn't need AI to make Silksong, it just needed some deeply insane guys to have a blank check for living expenses until their next thing was done, I think we should try doing more of that instead

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

I have again been asked if AI was used to make my game.

For transparency, my minions used generative AI to make all the parts of the game that didn't benefit from a human touch, were too boring to make or not important enough to craft by hand. In other words, we didn't use any generative AI.

this is why i have said multiple time that streaming financially benefits artists as much as piracy does. because unless millions of people stream one song it won't even pay rent. meanwhile it takes a couple thousand bandcamp or itunes or qobuz song purchases to pay for rent. hundreds for an album

We’ve created the self-regarding allegedly erudite child-molesting monsters from Vladimir Nabokov’s novel “Don’t Create The Self-Regarding Allegedly Erudite Child-Molesting Monster”
Not going to repost the images, but the first few feature the first paragraph of Lolita written in ink on the skin of a woman (or girl, impossible to tell)
