I really do think this is an excellent metaphor for the moment.
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

You will be hard pressed to find another halftime show with so many social and cultural references. It was like a piece of musical theatre, made more intimate by the fact it was intended not necessarily for those in attendance, but for those watching from their homes.
That halftime show was incredible.

The rate of sepsis in Houston surged 63% after Texas banned abortion.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where hospital leaders empowered doctors to intervene before patients’ conditions worsened, it rose 29%.

Iowa closing the African American studies major during Black history month is diabolical.

Would be an interesting time for the Catholic Church in the US to resuscitate the idea of the Vicariate of Solidarty, the department the Chilean wing of the church established to contend with Pinochet's abuses. They were critical record keepers of all that happened.

You would like to think that universities would slowly go back to helping students who are underrepresented in higher education, but they won’t, because it takes a long time to achieve forward-thinking policies, and once you lose them, you will have to fight for years to get close to what you had.
“Today’s dismissal confirms what the data shows: government attorneys are having an increasingly difficult time defending the lawlessness of the president and his cabinet,” said Skye Perryman, Democracy Forward's president and CEO.

His name was Geraldo Lunas Campos. If you pay taxes in the US, you paid 4 ICE officers to hold him down while a 5th choked him to death. This murder is more likely to be justified as a natural consequence of being a "criminal alien" than to be prosecuted.

We are hurtling quickly down a dark path.
