The incredible ‘Orkney Hood’ from Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

So well preserved it looks like it was woven yesterday rather than some 1,500 years ago!

It’s thought the hood was made for a child. Found in 1867 in a peat bog in St Andrews Parish, Orkney.

This is what many of us have been saying. Part 3 of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill is based on a myth: that we don't have enough homes because wildlife and green spaces are protected. It will solve nothing, and inflict terrible harm on our remaining ecosystems

Visited the Anderton Boat Lift. What a marvel! The building behind is the old Brunner Mond/ICI factory, often referred to as the ‘beast’. My great grandad worked there, tinkering with a little engine. Showed his pics to a local, who told me he’d been blown up and put on the wall in Weatherspoons

If only those pesky
Suffragettes had confined themselves to one protest…
Home Secretary tells Sky News that “there is a gap in the law” when it comes to frequent, repeated protests on the same issue. Hence she will be giving police greater powers to move them to another location or time.

First sighting of a wasp spider, a female I think. It’s been on the front door all day, quietly basking in the autumn sunshine. Apparently the females eat the males after mating, so possibly slowly digesting her husband
