He intends to establish control over the nation's capital so the next coup won't fail. It's as simple as that.

Well done to Josh Taylor for sinking the boot into the Productivity Commission's risible report on AI. Rubbish like this suggests it's well past time to abolish the Productivity Commission altogether. Put the funding into actual research, not this nonsense www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
Australia’s potential surrender of creative content to tech giants for free is shocking. Labor must decide where it stands | Josh Taylor
The Productivity Commission appears to have bought into tech companies’ brazen arguments – and caught the Australian government off-guard

I'm heartsick at the IDF murders of so many fiercely brave reporters & photographers in Gaza. And I'm truly ashamed of so much of the Australian media which took so long to even admit a genocide is happening. Huge protests are not covered or literally minimised; headlines mince words to a paste.

A bit perplexed at the headlines about today’s #marchforhumanity saying “perilous” and “police feared the worst”. Surely the story is that, in spite of police fears, the march was peaceful, demonstrators full of goodwill and happily cooperated with police instructions to manage the huge turnout.

In the end they will try to lock up every brown person in the country, whether they are a citizen or not. He will sign an executive order declaring himself president for life and the Supreme Court will uphold it 6-3. They will leave you no choice. They think so little of you.

Boomer Democrats need to make way for the next generations. The times require new blood, new thinking, new passions
We need a new generation of leaders who are the voices of democracy, freedom, social justice, & the rule of law.

A new generation that gives meaning to the “we” in “we the people.”

Instead of fretting over Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party should embrace him as the future.

Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

In just 130 days, Elon...

-Secured even more contracts

-Derailed at least 40 fed investigations of his corporations

-Gutted agencies that regulate his business

-Installed loyalists throughout the government

Elon has fallen out with Trump, but he got exactly what he wanted.

For years we've heard from the right about "welfare queens" and other so-called "freeloaders" pulling one over on the government.

But actually, it's the wealthy who are the real freeloaders — pulling one over on us all by skirting their taxes.

Where is the outrage over that?

Useful to talk about re vaccinations with the hesitant. It doesn’t overload an immune system; challenges it about the same amount as a dog lick or crawling on the ground. It’s important because it triggers natural immunity & works with the body. Breastmilk & good food won’t stop measles, polio etc.

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.

I have a 31yo autistic son, and he is a delightful, caring person. Autism doesn’t excuse people behaving like total arseholes.
Autism didn’t make them do it. Mental illness didn’t, either. This personal piece from The Big Picture cuts through the excuses and names the real issue: some people are just hateful, and we need to stop giving them cover.
Neither Neurodivergence Nor Mental Illness Made Them Bigots—They're Just Awful People
It's hard to admit your heroes are jerks, but the mentally ill and neurodivergent shouldn't be collateral damage.
