📍Democratic Candidate for City Council D1
Reposted by Jess Coleman
If you live in City Council District 1, Chris Marte does not deserve your vote. People against more buildings and affordable housing (for seniors, no less!) shouldn't represent Manhattan neighborhoods. Vote for @jesskcoleman.bsky.social, who will be excellent on housing.

Jess Coleman is our pick for Manhattan's 1st Council District seat. He supports a crosstown protected bike lane on Chambers Street, pedestrianizing much of the Financial District, and keeping cars off a reopened Park Row. More about @jesskcoleman.bsky.social here: www.streetspac.org/2025_nyc_pri...

Something special is happening in NYC.

People are fed up with the broken status quo and ready for bold action: more housing, safer streets, and public spaces that put people first.

We’ve built serious momentum. Join us Sunday and help turn it into power💪

Lower Manhattan has a choice: keep blocking new housing while rents skyrocket — or finally build a future where people can afford to stay.

Grateful to @hellgatenyc.com for highlighting what’s at stake in this election. hellgatenyc.com/marte-colema...
It's YIMBY vs. NIMBY in Lower Manhattan's City Council Race
Incumbent Christopher Marte's anti-development positions have earned him some loyal fans—as well as challengers from the pro-growth movement within the Democratic Party.

Congestion pricing is working.

It’s a massive win for NYC—and Democrats should be shouting it from the rooftops.

Instead, many are silent. Some, like Chris Marte, are actively fighting it.

Why are we ducking the fight?

We couldn’t be more excited to announce our endorsement of Jess Coleman’s run for for City Council - District 1.

@jesskcoleman.bsky.social placed housing affordability at the heart of his campaign. His abundance-oriented agenda is what the city needs from our leaders.

Hot on his tail—with bold, common-sense solutions to actually lower your rent.

Thanks to @thecity.nyc for spotlighting the movement we’re building.

Housing’s out of reach. Hate crimes are rising. Our rights are under attack.

LGBTQ New Yorkers are on the front lines—and too often ignored by people in power.

Proud to have @SDNYC in my corner as we fight for real progress—not more empty promises.

Jess HQ is OPEN!

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight. The energy was electric—and a powerful reminder of what this campaign is all about: a more affordable, vibrant, and just NYC.

Final stretch ahead. Let’s get to work.

My path to the ballot was a little different.

No drama—just clipboards, real conversations, and a message of lowering your rent and making your neighborhood thrive.

My campaign has always been about you, and it will stay that way. www.nydailynews.com/2025/04/09/c...

Lower Manhattan has the highest storefront vacancy rate in NYC. Giving up a few parking spaces—for just a handful of hours every week—in exchange for a vibrant public space that benefits residents and small businesses is a no-brainer.

Good work, CB3!

Open NY is what the NIMBY right has feared all along: a young, people-powered movement fighting for housing justice w/o any reliance on special interests.

Can't wait to fight alongside them to lower your rent and make your neighborhood thrive.
In District 1 we’re excited to endorse @jesskcoleman.bsky.social, an Open New York member who’s challenging Manhattan’s most NIMBY elected official, Chris Marte.

Left: opposing congestion pricing.

Right: taking credit for a project funded by congestion pricing.

It was great to hear @jesskcoleman.bsky.social lay out his vision for a more prosperous & abundant NYC last night with the @nycnewliberals.org

Lower Manhattan deserves a city councilmember that supports more housing and congestion pricing.

I'll just say it's been a good morning.
I wonder how much money that obnoxious TikTok is going to raise for Marte’s primary opponent.

Anyway.

LGBTQ+ rights are under attack—book bans, healthcare restrictions, attempts to erase trans people. It’s an assault on all of us—our freedoms, our democracy, our right to exist.

Proud to be endorsed by @jimowlesclub.bsky.social. We need leaders who fight back, not just play defense.
