Hot on his tail—with bold, common-sense solutions to actually lower your rent.

Thanks to @thecity.nyc for spotlighting the movement we’re building.

Housing’s out of reach. Hate crimes are rising. Our rights are under attack.

LGBTQ New Yorkers are on the front lines—and too often ignored by people in power.

Proud to have @SDNYC in my corner as we fight for real progress—not more empty promises.

Jess HQ is OPEN!

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight. The energy was electric—and a powerful reminder of what this campaign is all about: a more affordable, vibrant, and just NYC.

Final stretch ahead. Let’s get to work.

Lower Manhattan has the highest storefront vacancy rate in NYC. Giving up a few parking spaces—for just a handful of hours every week—in exchange for a vibrant public space that benefits residents and small businesses is a no-brainer.

Good work, CB3!

Left: opposing congestion pricing.

Right: taking credit for a project funded by congestion pricing.

LGBTQ+ rights are under attack—book bans, healthcare restrictions, attempts to erase trans people. It’s an assault on all of us—our freedoms, our democracy, our right to exist.

Proud to be endorsed by @jimowlesclub.bsky.social. We need leaders who fight back, not just play defense.

I agree, Chris Marte: We need new social housing now more than ever.

Let’s get rid of local politicians who block 100% affordable housing projects in their own districts.

Oh wait…

It's so fitting that, just yesterday, my opponent became the only representative in Manhattan to vote against City of Yes, an essential reform of our outdated zoning laws.

This is why I'm running - b/c of leaders who preach progressive values but stand in the way of solutions.

I love this city, but I'm tired of leaders who fight for the status quo rather than offer a bold vision for progress.

Rents are sky rocketing, public transit is crumbling, our streets are more congested than ever.

We need leaders who prioritize solutions, not rhetoric.

While Paris is replacing parking spaces with trees, NYC will soon replace thousands of outdoor dining locations with parking spaces.

It’s really disheartening to watch NYC abandon its role as the global leader in urbanism.

Today I learned that Elon Musk thinks people pay tariffs on fentanyl.

Just saw Wicked. The best part (besides the musical performances, obviously)?

The Emerald City!

Incredibly dense with big pedestrian plazas and a bullet train right into the city center. Not a highway in sight.

Interesting what we imagine as an ideal, magical city!

No policy is perfect, but at a time when urban progressive governance is under extreme attack, what message does it send that *New York City,* the largest, densest city in the country, can't even get rid of parking mandates during a historic housing crisis?
November 19, 2024 at 2:51 PM
Over 80% of people entering this portion of Chinatown do so on foot, but only a third of the public infrastructure supports pedestrians.

We have a duty to learn from our mistakes—nothing has hollowed out American cities more than this type of hyper-prioritization of cars.
November 19, 2024 at 1:49 PM
A new study from @NYC_DOT finds that reopening Park Row in Lower Manhattan to cars would add *more traffic overall* to Chinatown.

This phenomenon, induced demand, is the most important concept in transportation policy but is so often misunderstood by politicians. @streetsblognyc.bsky.social

Lower Manhattan has incredibly few Open Streets. Meanwhile, our councilmember advocates *expanding* streets for more car access, rather than investing in pedestrians, bikers, and public transit riders.

He also opposes City of Yes, which would expand the ability to convert offices into apartments.
November 15, 2024 at 6:40 PM
The report also finds that when steps are taken to prioritize pedestrians (with things like Open Streets and pedestrian plazas), those areas experience significant benefits compared to nearby areas.

This should not be a surprise: invest in things people want and enjoy, and communities will thrive.
November 15, 2024 at 6:40 PM
Post-Covid, our neighborhoods are changing. Lower Manhattan was built to cater to a massive surge in office workers during the day.

That's no longer the case, but our policy has not changed to meet the changing needs of residents.
November 15, 2024 at 6:40 PM
Today, @nycplanning.bsky.social released a report about storefront vacancy in NYC.

Who comes out on top? FiDi, BPC, Tribeca and Chinatown, some of the most historic, prosperous and vibrant communities in the country.

How could this be?
