If I were an ambitious Senate Dem I’d probably be happy to let Schumer take all the flak for the next 14 months and then push him out once Democrats have some actual power.

Furious Liberals Call for Schumer to Step Aside, Senate Dems Mostly Quiet
After their shutdown surrender, liberal lawmakers are begging their base to unite behind them anyway – as Trumpland celebrates that their opposition is a bunch of 'p*ssies.'

I may have spoken too soon.
I disagree with Schumer on a number of things, and I think he really screwed up on the budget fight in March, but people on here need to remember that he is not actually an idiot.
Lukewarm take is Schumer knew the GOP would reject the 1-year offer but it lets Dems talk about how they made the 1-year offer this weekend at a time when the public’s paying attention. This was a good move.

Also, it seems pretty clear from the article that “overtly antisemitic” in this case means “critical of Israel”.
well now I’m curious about Paramount’s preferred level of antisemitism
Paramount Has Blacklist for Stars Deemed “Overtly Antisemitic” — World of Reel
It sure looks like the likes of Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo won’t be making movies for Paramount in the foreseeable future.

turning a big dial taht says "antisemitism" on it and constantly looking back at the executives for approval like a contestant on the price is right.

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“16,000 vast piles of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered village lies."
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Also, a mayor’s effectiveness/popularity once in office has no correlation to margin of victory. Koch, Dinkins, Giuliani and Bloomberg all were in the 50-51% range in their first wins. De Blasio and Adams won in landslides.
I think people who are snidely pointing out that Mamdani “only” got a little over 50% of the vote would do well to remember he vastly outperformed India Walton, the last Democratic nominee in his position

Rich New Yorkers responding to Mamdani’s victory:
This is a great analogy – but also Baba Yaga’s “huts with chicken legs” program would address both the housing crisis and the transportation problem.
Being in the city, it’s impossible to overstate the degree to which this is true. The folks who profess to be “afraid” of Mamdani have heard stories that are indistinguishable from Baba Yaga or the chupacabra. There’s never any substance, just slander and lies spread by the media they seek out.
They believe conspiracy theories. It's as simple as that. They cannot face the evidence is as much against them as it is, that WE see clearly because it means they've been wrong this whole time. It's face saving to avoid the obvious--MAMDANI is the advocate of liberal rights. So what are THEY then?

It’s true that no NYC mayor has gone on to higher office since 1869. But only two governors of states smaller than NYC (Coolidge, MA; Clinton; AR) have become president over that same time span and none of these pundits ever says governor is a dead-end job.
The argument makes no sense. Ross has been saying that Democrats will never win if they run on left policy. Then a Democrat wins by running on left policy and he says who cares, Mamdani isn't gonna go anywhere.

I am hearing that on his deathbed Andrew Cuomo received the light of democratic socialism and unhesitatingly sang the Internationale. Even now he looks down on Bushwick from the gardens of Astoria. Truly there is no god but DSA, and Zohran is his prophet!
