Humanist. I think shared values, recognition of shared humanity, and decent behaviour towards others are ultimately more important than beliefs or identity. We need to talk more.

I’ve written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage urging them to condemn Donald Trump’s attack on the BBC.

The BBC belongs to Britain, not Trump. We must defend it together.

And if we think it’s bad now, imagine what it could look like, say, two months from a U.K. general election?

Could imagine huge sums in US far right cash flooding in, much of what would only be declared after the election (our electoral rules really are a jape)
Be clear, the American far right are coming for British democracy.

I continue to think that the BBC is one of Britain’s most important institutions, and it has been an honour to occasionaly contribute to their work in recent years. It has set international standards of journalism.
The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it

We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trump’s America becoming Farage's Britain.

The BBC - for all its flaws - remains the greatest news and broadcasting service in the world.

It is everything Donald Trump and his cabal of nasty little nobodies will never be and we need to defend it.

BBC one of our most important bodies, attacked from both right and left. Infuriating they made such a stupid editorial decision as this - a gift to detractors.
Trump doesn’t need misleading edits for us to know he wanted to overturn an election.

💥The PPE VIP Lane scandal isn’t going away…

Despite the previous government hoping it would.

A reminder the Covid Contracts scandal cost the tax-payer £15billion.

So far over 1million pallets of unused/unusable PPE have been incinerated

My mum was young woman in London in WW2 and spoke of the racism suffered by black US soldiers. This action by the Trump admin is utterly shameful. Decent Dutch people will react I think.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

He also funded Brexit and gave millions to the Tories. Does he anymore?:

This is such a good point.
I suspect it comes from fully believing what you're saying and understanding why you're saying it. Politicians who endlessly triangulate can't hope to achieve it.
(Yes, these things do apply to Farage and Johnson to, albeit for terrible reasons)
I think one of the underrated things about Mamdani is just that he looks like he’s enjoying himself - which is incredibly appealing.

It’s one of those qualities which helps a lot of the most successful politicians, from Barack Obama to Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage. Being at ease with yourself.
