Updated my iPhone's iOS and it purged the last voicemail my Dad left me before he died. 🙃
Luckily, I have lots of archived audio of my Dad's voice. But I couldn't help but think of other iPhone users who'd lost loved ones and maybe saved VMs, only to have them force-deleted with no backups.

I feel like I say this every year but I really need people to hear it. Halloween is the best American holiday. Just kids outside welcomed into their world, marching around together, showing off their costumes to the elderly, parents meeting parents, neighbors catching up with neighbors.

The Republican Senate Majority Leader chose to send the Senate HOME rather than hold a vote to fund SNAP.
He will force a vote 13 times on a bill he knows won't pass rather than vote ONE time on a bill to fund SNAP we KNOW would pass.

This. This. This. Food banks generally have buying power and partnerships where your money actually buys more food and feeds more people if they’re the ones doing the purchasing.
please give money and not food, it takes a not insignificant amount of time to sort and stock donations and money goes very far. also make sure you donate to a place that treats people with dignity and respect and allows access to anyone
as we reach the SNAP cliff just a gentle reminder to do-gooders that the most efficient use of resources is to contribute to organizations that are already established. unless nothing exists in your area (and it likely does whether you know it) now is probably not the time to stand something up

My kid is playing a game where she pretends to be a 911 operator and she keeps mispronouncing "New York" as "Yew Nork" and it IS THE CUTEST - I can't bring myself to correct her.
