The DUP are now courting detransitioners in order to fight the puberty blocker ban. Considering Bell lost her case on appeal I'm not sure she is the best person to be taking advice from.

Puberty Blockers What actually are they? "Puberty blockers" are actually GnRH (Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone) analogues are prescribed for various medical conditions that involve hormonal regulation. These analogues either stimulate or suppress the release of gonadotropins (LH and FSH) from the pituitary gland. Here are some common conditions they are used for: 1. Reproductive & Gynaecological Conditions • Endometriosis – Suppresses estrogen production to reduce pain and lesion growth. • Uterine Fibroids – Shrinks fibroids by reducing estrogen levels. • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) (rare cases) – Helps regulate ovulation in certain infertility treatments. • Assisted Reproductive Technology (e.g., IVF) – Prevents premature ovulation during controlled ovarian stimulation. 2. Hormone-Sensitive Cancers • Prostate Cancer – Reduces testosterone levels to slow cancer growth. • Breast Cancer (hormone-sensitive, premenopausal women) – Suppresses ovarian estrogen production. 3. Paediatric Conditions • Precocious Puberty – Delays early puberty by suppressing sex hormones. 4. Transgender Healthcare • Puberty Blockers in Transgender Youth – Temporarily halts puberty to provide time for gender-affirming decisions. • Hormone Therapy in Transgender Adults – Used to suppress endogenous hormone production. 5. Other Conditions • Hyperandrogenism – Reduces excessive androgen production. • Severe Menstrual Disorders (e.g., heavy bleeding, adenomyosis) – Reduces estrogen to control symptoms. • Hormone-Sensitive Neurological Disorders (e.g., hormone-related migraines, epilepsy) – Helps in cases where hormonal fluctuations worsen symptoms. We have noticed various comments on the articles shared by local media about our continued ban on political parties and would like to take a moment to address some of them... 1. Trans Agenda: To us Every letter of LGBTQIA is just as important as the others and if you actually read the article you'd find that the puberty blocker ban is only one part of this, and even if it was lifted tomorrow the political parties would still be banned, the entire LGBTQIA community has repeatedly been failed by Stormont and things have to change. Furthermore if you actually do your research you will find there is no evidence of harm caused by puberty blockers, there is a risk of bone density issues with long term use, but they arent used long term and the risks are thoroughly explained before hand so that an informed decision can be made. It is worth noting they are still used for a number of other issues including precocious puberty which means giving them to much younger children for longer periods of time but you don't seem to have an issue with that??? 2.Rainbow project: we obviously have a relationship with them but they are not involved in planning pride or funding it. They also dont recieve any funding from stormont so we are unsure how exactly you plan to defund them and while the various Prides communicate with each other there is no overall body running them. 3.PSNI: while the police do their job of closing roads etc for parades they do not take part in any Prides in Northern Ireland, and why do you find it acceptable to ban them but not political parties?? 4. This ban is for parties NOT individuals! Any mla/mp/counsellors are more than welcome to take part as private citizens, the fact that the majority chose not to last year is evidence that it was just a photo op, however we have noted who still turned up and it was very much appreciated.

Happy New Year, everyone, We’re starting as we mean to go on. Anyone who believed the banning of Executive parties from Pride was a one-off was mistaken. The situation at Stormont has not changed and neither have we. Today, we are sending the letter shared above to each of the Executive parties. We will also be writing to the leader of the SDLP. While they are not currently an Executive party, the reality is that they have not done enough, and that cannot go unchallenged. We want to take a moment to pay tribute to Green Party NI, People Before Profit, and the Socialist Party for standing with us throughout 2025 and in previous years. Their solidarity has mattered, and we look forward to welcoming them at Pride again this year. As for the other parties: the clock is ticking, and we are watching. They have until the beginning of Pride Month to demonstrate meaningful change. If they fail to do so, the ban will remain in place. We also want to thank our Pride siblings particularly Belfast, Foyle, Omagh, and Mid & East Antrim Pride for standing with us in solidarity last year. Collective action is how we win, and we hope to stand together again this year. Finally, to the queer community: thank you. Thank you for your words of support, for marching with us, and for refusing to be silenced. We look forward to welcoming you all back on August 1st, under this year’s theme: “Still Here, Still Proud.” Because We are here. We are queer. And we aren’t going anywhere. Dear Party Leader, We are writing jointly on behalf of Causeway Pride and Mams 4 Trans NI to formally confirm the exclusion of Executive parties from Pride 2026 and to set out, without ambiguity, both the reasons for this decision and the consequences of continued inaction. This was not a route we wanted to take. Pride organisers do not exclude political parties lightly. We are here because Executive parties repeatedly left us with no alternative. Years of delay, regression, and avoidance on LGBTQIA+ rights have made this position unavoidable. Attempts to reduce this decision to a single issue, including puberty blockers, are inaccurate and misleading. This exclusion reflects a broader and long-standing pattern: LGBTQIA+ rights treated as negotiable, progress stalled for political convenience, and harm allowed to persist while responsibility is deferred. When decisive action was required, Executive parties repeatedly failed to deliver. Our communities have been consulted without outcomes, reassured without follow-through, and expected to remain patient while our rights were deprioritised. Pride does not exist to absorb political failure or provide cover for it, and we will not allow it to be used that way. This is a deliberate, ongoing measure, not a protest gesture. Pride Month as always is in June, and our Pride Parade will take place on 1 August 2026. The exclusion still applies and will remain in force unless Executive parties demonstrate through action, not assertion that it is no longer necessary. At present, that threshold has not been met. This letter therefore serves as explicit advance notice that without material and verifiable progress, the ban will stand. For the avoidance of doubt, “meaningful action” is defined strictly and non-negotiably as: Delivery of legislative and policy change, not further discussion, that materially improves the lives of LGBTQIA+ people Clear, time-bound commitments from party leadership, followed by demonstrable action within the Executive Active opposition to policies, rhetoric, and decisions that harm LGBTQIA+ people, including when politically inconvenient Engagement that produces outcomes, not access, visibility, or appearances Accountability, including acknowledgement of failures and evidence of corrective action Attendance at events, photo opportunities, rainbow branding, social media statements, or general expressions of support do not meet this standard and will be treated as performative.

There will be a lot of posts in December about everything people achieved this year and that’s fine. But if the only thing you did this year was get through it, that is more than enough. Christmas can be an especially difficult time for many LGBTQIA+ people here in Northern Ireland, particularly those dealing with unsupportive families, religious pressure, or communities where it still isn’t safe to be fully yourself. Please check on your queer friends. A text, an invite, or a reminder that they’re not alone can genuinely save lives. We’ll be taking a short break from social media over the festive period to rest and regroup. But come January, we’ll be straight back at it holding MLAs and Ministers’ feet to the fire over the puberty blocker ban, the ongoing failures in LGBTQIA+ healthcare, and the wider lack of political courage when it comes to our rights. Rest is not retreat. Care is not complacency. The work continues. Take care of yourselves, and take care of each other.
