NEW: Google is hosting a CBP app that uses facial recognition to identify immigrants, and tell local cops whether to contact ICE about the person, while also removing apps designed to warn communities about ICE officials.

Health insurance is a hellscape of confusing options right now, and I'm seeing similar employer-sponsored plans with wildly varied employer/employee cost-sharing arrangements (e.g., a PPO plan at $2,750 for employee + spouse per year versus $6,700 a year). If you have questions, I can try to help!
Speaking of insurance—we're in open enrollment season! Whether you're choosing a plan through your employer or purchasing a plan from the marketplace, there are some things you should know. Prepare yourself for a thread on health insurance!

First session of the day at NNOHA and there's more political courage and spine in this one room of oral health professionals than in any so-called hall of power in Washington.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

the polling on data centers is just atrocious for the AI industry:

• the younger people are, the more likely they are to dislike them
• arguments against data centers consistently poll as more convincing than arguments for them
• the dislike is also bipartisan, spans across all other demos

Lol “confusion about who is press is leading to first amendment violations”—what about the PROTESTORS who are getting their shit rocked on the regular? Is that not *also* a first amendment violation?

if you didn't follow the VA governor race you didn't know that Earle-Sears ran like a billion anti-trans campaign ads and Spanberger didn't flinch or pull a Newsom.

going all-in against trans people is a losing move, especially when the federal government has made harming and killing us a priority.

And They seem to have lost their working majorities to pass their policies in big school boards.

I tracked these results in FOUR boards tonight. So a 🧵 on each ICYMI.
