#jj-vcs has completely transformed how I work with git (in the best way). It’s worth your time to experiment with it.

Are we training the systems that will replace us? In this DBBD clip, @ethanmarcotte.com explains how automation doesn't replace jobs overnight, it reshapes them. First you supervise the AI. Then your role is devalued. designobserver.com/compassionat...

Interesting to see some of the library docs I use regularly are starting to incorporate their own llms.txt.

“I must consult with my court” says the king. In the empty court is a great machine, and about it many masks. He asks a question of his war counselor, and the machine assumes one mask. He asks the advice of his treasurer, and the machine assumes another. In every voice, it lies. He does not notice.

Fellow #fullstack #web eng: are you using much AI for development yet? Tried full on vibe coding? What tools/services have you used (how often, and to what success)?

Penpot is looking pretty good! While there are a couple of small things missing that I'm used to in Figma (*cough* component variants), I have confidence they're building in the right direction.

2025 is seeing me explore alternatives to some of the established tools in my set. I've long considered Adobe Suite and Figma as essential. But in this economy?

I'm rethinking any subscription services in favour of "license once" or FOSS options.

The industry-wide push for AI despite its flaws is in part because it allows control over a narrative. Don’t think for yourself, let the LLM feed you the facts. AI is a fascist propagandist’s dream.
New from 404 Media: Facebook has deliberately pushed its Llama 4 AI model to the right in an attempt to show "both sides." Obviously that is dangerous/stupid if the AI is talking about climate change, health etc which are scientific fact but clouded by politics www.404media.co/facebook-pus...

Meta’s Llama 4 model is worried about left leaning bias in the data, and wants to be more like Elon Musk’s Grok.

Century+ duration electronic data preservation is in fact an unsolved problem, but magnetic tapes set read-only are as close as we have right now. This is a massive, active research problem at Amazon, Google, Microsoft, others. www.microsoft.com/en-us/resear... Some tape can be replaced, not all.
