Call it what it is. Don’t like “woke”? That’s probably racism
New in PN: Judge rules that anti-woke is just racism

“'I’ve never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable,' Judge Young fumed. 'I’ve sat on this bench now for 40 years. I’ve never seen government racial discrimination like this.'

*More of this, please*"
Judge rules that anti-woke is just racism
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a rancid bigot.

Thx 🙏 @jedjerwood.bsky.social and @gemmaallen.bsky.social for genuinely changing the way so many of us approach and reflect on health inequity in palliative care @nobarriershere.bsky.social.
Lessons for life here: “We must also be willing to share power, listen, slow down & do things differently.”
If we are brave enough to ask people about themselves and what and who is important to them, what they find difficult, what they are fearful of and what they need, we may have a chance to really improve the experiences of the people we care for.”

Was sent this article by @iwashyna.bsky.social by a trainee colleague after we diagnosed acute dying

I’d read it before, but the quote in the concluding paragraph still stuns

Wonder if scurryfunging also applies to when hospitals receive royal or governmental visits and everything works for 3 or 4 hours...
Word of the day (of course) is ‘scurryfunging’, from US dialect: the frantic attempt to tidy the house just before guests arrive.
